Dan D. Drew, (1926 - 2008)
was an American computer scientist and Professor Emeritus at Texas A&M University 1, and former division head microprogramming . He was the principal advisor to the six computer science students who are credited with the founding of Upsilon Pi Epsilon at Texas A&M in 1967 2. In 1968, he was involved in the development of the early chess program Schach by primary authors Rolf C. Smith and Franklin D. Ceruti. Schach was originally developed as part of the requirements for the degree of Master of Computer Science at Texas A&M under advisor Dan D. Drew, mentioned as co-author in the ACM 1970 booklet 3.
