The Fifth Livingston 1 Chess960 Computer World Championship was held within the scope of the Chess Classic Mainz, Germany, July 29-31, 2009, last time organized by Hans-Walter Schmitt and his Chess Tigers 2. The two finalists from 2008, Rybka and Shredder were challenged by two qualifiers from an online tournament held at Internet Chess Club (ICC), Deep Sjeng and Ikarus 3. Hans Secelle served as arbiter, and Eric van Reem as Tournament director.
