Description

Does the space currently have anything in terms of emergency response policy? Guidelines on what to do, who to get in touch with, etc if shit hits the fan?

And yes your help would b very much appreciated. I'de be interested to hear you elaborate a lil more on what you had in mind with regards to "what to do". Like "if a cop shows up, do this. If a banned member shows up, do this. If a banned member will not leave, do this"

m, [29.08.2025 15:34]
I do want to be very strict with regards to not calling the cops at basically any point

Max/Bug, [29.08.2025 15:48]
The only instance I can think of ever notifying them besides someone being found dead is if there was a need to trespass someone by whoever has that authority under the lease.

Max/Bug, [29.08.2025 15:48]
even in that first instance it would be call for paramedics

Max/Bug, [29.08.2025 15:48]
they can handle bringing in the pigs

m, [29.08.2025 15:48]
Yeah

m, [29.08.2025 15:49]
Last night when the "need to trespass someone by whoever has that authority (me)" happened we just walked out

m, [29.08.2025 15:49]
I'm not gonna call the cops on ppl that just creates more harm

m, [29.08.2025 15:53]
Yeah it's just a strict line i will draw with regards to not employing state violence

m, [29.08.2025 15:53]
That's p much that

m, [29.08.2025 15:53]
But yeah docs regarding this would be nice

Max/Bug, [29.08.2025 15:54]
but what would be the response to an active shooter situation?

Max/Bug, [29.08.2025 15:54]
Because that is typically "Call 911 and report a shooting"

m, [31.08.2025 11:00]
fwiw I think I've convinced myself this is a reasonable "call the cops situation". Call the cops while running but an active shooter implies a threat to random other ppl and we're not equipped to inform everyone in an area

this is another case where pulling from noisebridge's accured wisdom may be helpful

"In nearly all cases SFGH Psychiatric Emergency Services 1001 Potrero Avenue Ph: 415-206-8125 are more appropriate. However sometimes they defer to the police because they are short staffed, or will not help without the police. Please take this into account and do the utmost to deal with situations without inviting the police to noisebridge."
from https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Safety

the SFGH PES https://www.zuckerbergsanfranciscogeneral.org/services/psychiatric-emergency-services-pes/ seems to mostly say they deal with personal mental health crises -- i wonder if the noisebridge mention in these terms ("almost always better to call than the police") means they end up handling other situations too

i found two similar orgs in the seattle area -- DESC has one and Sound Behavioral Health has one

Sound Behavioral Health mentions working with the cops (though mainly, it sounds like, in taking calls from the cops -- i didn't see them mention the other way around)

i looked around and didn't see any cop mentions on DESC's website

https://www.desc.org/what-we-do/crisis-response/mobile-crisis-team/
https://www.sound.health/tertiary-services/mobile-rapid-response-crisis-teams

(also, noisebridge mentions the cops being necessary occasionally in 86 writeups, so their calculus may be slightly different than ours)
