My main gaming desktop has two strange problems that are bedeviling me. One is a boot problem and one is a shutdown problem. Does anybody have any idea what’s wrong? And/or how to fix this?

Boot Problem

1. (Flick switch on back of power supply. Due to shutdown problem.)
2. Press power button on case.
3. System pauses during boot with the message:

New CPU installed! Please enter Setup to configure your system. Press F1 to Run SETUP.

4. I press F1 and it goes to the ASUS BIOS.
5. Then, I have to click “Boot Menu” and select Bazzite or UEFI.
6. The system boots normally from that point.

Shutdown Problem

1. In GNOME, I click “Power off”
2. System starts to shutdown.
3. Screen goes black.
4. Fans spin at higher speed and system stays on forever.
5. I have to flick the switch on the back of the case to shut it down.

NOTES:

• Not related to to the OS, Bazzite. It was like this with Bluefin, and NixOS, too.
• Tried clearing CMOS with the motherboard jumper.
• I replaced the CMOS battery.
• I redid the thermal paste on the CPU.
• Ran Memtest86+. It was good.
• Reseated RAM.
• Before this happened, system was non bootable. I replaced GPU (Sapphire Nitro + Radeon RX580 8G), and the CPU fan which had died. The CPU fan seemed to be problem.

Problem?
