I was quite productive in catching up on TV shows during Lunar New Year. I don’t watch lots of my ‘own’ shows unless I have time off from work so the winter break is a special time for me.

Jack Ryan (Season 2)

I used to devour these Tom Clancy books when I was in high school. I think they’ve done a great job of translating these books into a TV show. I like the actors they’ve chosen for Jack Ryan and Greer. The only difficulty with watching this show is the multiple languages they use. This is a great popcorn TV show - guns, action, and exotic locales!

True Detective (Season 4)

Creepy. I loved the location in Alaska. I always say this but I’m pretty sick of TV shows and movies set in New York. The location was its own character in this show. Jodie Foster as the lead was a great choice. The weaving of Inuit culture (I think it is Inuit?) and myths with the story was so great.

Silo (Season 2)

I watched Season 1 and then rushed back to read books 1-3 by Hugh Howey. I really liked Season 2. They did a good job with slicing down a thick 500 page novel into a season of TV. I still think the book is better (isn’t it always?), so it’s good to go back to the book if you enjoyed watching the TV show. The TV show does give you a good visual representation of what the Silo looks like. I love the gritty look and feel of the sets they use.

SAS Rogue Heroes (Season 1)

Didn’t get to finish it but it’s nice to watch a show with British, Australian, and Irish accents.

Now, I can’t wait until summer break now where I will have another chance to bine watch great TV shows. We are living in an amazing time for quality television.
