Translating Bitcoin Core

Multiple language support is critical to Bitcoin’s global adoption. The Bitcoin Core translation project covers more than 150 languages, maintained by thousands of volunteer contributors—but more help is always needed, both to complete partial translations and to keep existing ones current.

To contribute a translation, create a Transifex account and join the Bitcoin Core translation project. If you’re new to Transifex, their getting started guide for translators walks through the basics of joining a project and translating strings.

Translators should also subscribe to the translators mailing list, where announcements are posted around pre-releases to notify translators of new strings to check.

After saving a translation, it will be reviewed and (if accepted) included in an upcoming release of Bitcoin Core. Translated strings are pulled from Transifex periodically, primarily around pre-releases. For details about how translations flow into the software, see the translation process documentation.
