Automaphonica 1: CRASH THE PARTY

(AMPH001)

Our very first release, this is a compilation of 8 artists in the Digital Fusion (“digifu”) scene, combining old-school production and game music techniques with genres like rock, soul, funk, house, drum and bass, and jazz.

Each track is made to contrast the last, showing off each artist’s individual niche in our broad and varied genre, through-composed into a single continuous mix.

About Automaphonica

Who We Are

Zantilla

Adrian Shegstad (he/they) aka Zantilla is a digital fusion composer and guitarist based in Iowa. Inspired by impressionism, dark fantasy, and VGM, Zantilla blends together prog, and punk into a unique and energetic sound.

Tesselode

A being of pure data, transmitting unhinged improv and scrambled breaks through the cybersphere, Tesselode makes abstract, unusual, and fun electronic music with brain-tickling aesthetics.

papaya mcfruity

papaya mcfruity is a self-described eclectic electric multimedia outsider artist whose oft-aggressive sometimes-sentimental style explores the boundaries of genre in electronic music. In short, she makes synthesizers boop beeps and hopes they sound good.

jneen-collective

jneen is a trans woman, a digital fusion producer, keyboardist, and drummer based in Toronto. she makes swagger basslines, and catchy vgm melodies that stick in your head. You will often hear her blur the line between synthetic and real-time improvisation, or experiment with odd sounds and strange meters, but she always keeps it groovy and accessible.

When not making music, she’s been known to make Mario Maker 2 troll levels and sudoku puzzles, as well as music ports for SNES romhacks.

Planet Bluto

Planet Bluto is a black dude who makes things on the computer like games, apps, 3D art, videos (eventually), and, of course, music!

He mainly uses Ultrabox to make chip tunes, but he also uses FL to make more electronic-ey/real sound-ey stuff. Constantly reshaping his sound, he is currently experimenting with more samplecore and weird noises that combine together into cool grooves.

  • Viravax

Viravax is an interesting fella, making sample-based music inspired by the sounds of the late 90s and early 00s and uploading it to the internet sometimes. He thinks it’s pretty neat. Using a large library of sounds from classic romplers to samples curated from media such as video games, films, and TV samples, he uses anything and everything to paint intricate, groovy, and cinematic soundscapes.

When he’s not making music, you can usually catch him going through his evergrowing backlog of video games, watching random youtube videos, making some of his own, or finding the next niche of physical media he will start collecting for a short time.
