About Me

I am a software designer/design lead and artist and I live in West Wales not far from Swansea. This is my personal site where I get to play around a bit more than with my professional stuff. I do UI/UX design, user research, product marketing, managing and mentoring. I used to freelance and did all that as well as front end dev, illustration and print design. I grew up in the north west of England and lived and worked for a long time in Brighton. I post on Mastodon fairly regularly. I take a lot of photos, and used to run a photoblog. I also used to update Ministry of Type, a type / illustration / graphics / lettering blog and have a fantasy that I'll resurrect it again some day.

The heading typeface is a variable font of my own design, inspired by hand lettering and has several hundred ligatures and alternates. The caption typeface is also my design, loosely based on my handwriting, and has variable axes of font weight and ‘exuberance’: from neat handwriting to fast and expressive. The rest of the text is the open-source Monaspace, which is a fantastic typeface.
