Someone pointed out I should put an end page here so people don't get spoiled when someone links them here which is a good idea, so here it is! Just something small and a bit vague I'm hoping, haha.
Thank you again for everyone who read this comic or left comments or did any nice thing or anything like that! You don't know how much it all means to me. ;_;

Thank you so much for your amazing work. I really admire the dedication to continue this comic for so long. I remember discovering it back in 2016, that seriously feels like an eternity ago now, but yesterday I stumbled upon it again and I read the whole thing in 2 days. I was immediately filled with a sense of nostalgia and memories of simpler and more innocent times, but I was also delighted and engrossed in the story, just like back then. Undertale was never a phase, wasn’t it? The game and its amazing community with all the talented people are still in my heart. Thank you again for everything :)

Thank you Zarla for making Handplates. I started reading it 7 years ago thanks to the Starbot Dubs dub, it was one of the things I was looking forward to read every few days/weeks. I really enjoyed how much care you put into the art and the story. It feels strange to say goodbye to a comic I followed for this long, but all good things must come to an end. Wishing you the best for your next projects :D

Zarla....thank you so much. This experience has been "hands down" one of the most emotional and captivating stories I've ever read. The art! The plot! The characters! I admire and appreciate the effort you have put into this series so much!! I just love your art style! And I loved all the small references to things you scattered around, too. It's a strange feeling seeing the end card, because it really feels like a solid, official end to the series and... I WASN'T READY FOR IT. (;_;)
extra fun story *(^o^)*: I recently started showing my sister this series. We spent like, literally 4 hours straight reading it one day. We have been alternating who voice acts each comic and- we just laughed so hard. C;
Once again, I just wanted to say thank you.
(PS: I forgot whether Gaster was left or right handed. Whoops. (._.))

aw, that's the perfect way to put it! ;)
Edit: Hey, I actually finally came back and resized the image so it wasn't so obnoxious lol. But hopefully the 'thank you' is received just as large as ever! heh. (≧▽≦*)

You could honestly make the first comic or a titlecard the main homepage and reverse the chronological release order = turn it into chronological plot order by going to the right. That's how everyone's gonna be reading it now, and this is a continuous story. No reason to not turn it into an actual (albeit digital) book, where you flip from page to page by going to the right.

Even though, I posted it at an earlier comic already:
Thank you, for your work.
Though I stumbled upon it by chance on 9gag, it was the first webcomic I actually researched for. And after learning, what "AUs" were I finally worked myself into the Undertale lore... Ultimately buying it because of your art, just to catch all the referenches <3
I'll absolutely return to read it... just how it takes several times playing the game to catch everything going on.
I wish thee well!
'till next time!
So this MUST really be it then

Well like another comment ‘no goodbye is final just the beginning of a new story’ I think I’m going to make different comics to do with this and give almost all the credit to you and just add me and my own character into it I think it’ll be a good idea and I just want to say thank you SO SO MUCH for ALL of this, this has helped me a LOT and I don’t know how to thank you enough. I might be a side character to your and MANY others but I am not going to stay in the dark and because of you, You ,Zarla, you have helped MANY people go through things and now I just want to say thank you to you and I’m also saying it to the people who can’t say it just Thank you for EVERYTHING here and many others just . . . Thanks so much Zarla I have said it so many times I’m so sorry heh =P but I just wanted to say that and I don’t know what to do now . . . But thank you . . .
It was fun while it lasted

I read a bit of the beginning of this and wanting to read more but I ended up shelving it for a long time, and I thought about this comic almost once a year. Eventually I made a reminder on my phone and am finally going through those now, saw handplates and finally looked it up again. Its really awesome to see that not only was it finished, but it was also updated not a couple days ago, and I'm glad it didn't end up just being a project that never got complete and is still remembered by many. Really excited to reread and finish it. Ive for the most part grown out of the undertale sort of interests, *though if anyone knows whatever that AU was that I think was underswap with a nexus that led to underfell and I think underfresh sans was in it as well, all a playable demo I want to find that again too, even if just an archive*

I'll miss following along these pages, but this was an extraordinary comic. It's probably one of the best and wellwritten comics out there for the undertale AU comics of all time. To anyone new reading this, I HIGHLY recommend you give it a read from the start.

For the moments I spent reading your works, and transporting myself in another world. Darker, yet darker, than the one I lived in. But I found comfort in it. At least, I wasn't in such a dark place.
I feel very grateful for the comfort this series brought me over the years. I hope you get to read this.
Take care of yourself stranger. I hope writing and drawing Handplates brought you as much as it brought me to read it.
A Thank You.

I didn't know what to make of this comic at first. At first, I thought... idk. It was kinda violent. And it was. Trust me, having handplates drilled into your hands is no easy thing to survive.
But it was also wholesome. And it taught some good lessons.
This is one of the first wholesome AUs I've seen in a while. I really enjoy it, and I hope you create more content.

It felt really good to remember the feelings undertale brought me with this. The device I experienced it on isnt one I use anymore, and by now it may not even work anymore. But I still have it, and it’ll never be reset again. It’s hard to believe how long ago it was already now. It feels bittersweet to know that even if i did play it again all the way through, it couldnt have the same impact it did the first time….

The first thing I’ve seen about Undertale was “I’m stronger than you”, chara’s version. It was so long ago. But comics have always been my favourites. Yours was the first I’ve seen. Your work is something I can’t stop thinking about before falling asleep. Your work is my favourite, and it surely has its own sacred place in my heart. After so many years, I still remember it. And I will never forget. The story that explains undertale more that the game itself. A story that makes everything completed. After so many years of work, all I want is to say thank you. For the story that has stolen my heart. A story I will never forget. A story I will be reading in a first place when Undertale will show up in my mind. If there is a reason why I will never let Undertale die in my heart, is you. Thank you. And take some rest. You’ve deserved it.
Wow.

Genuinely this is one of the best pieces of fiction I have ever read. It is the perfect fan fic. It expands on the source material in interesting but intuitive ways while also bringing its own creativity to the table. It is enhanced by the material it is inspired by, but also stands on its own as just a genuinely great and emotional story. It masterfully uses the original game to create a beautiful story, and portrays each character in a way that is true to the game, but also expands on them in complex ways, and they all just feel so, so real. It knows when to stick to the game and when to stray from it for the sake of its own story. Probably the best piece of fan content to come out of Undertale. 10/10, got closer to making me cry than the majority of stories that I've read. This comic is proof that people shouldn't dismiss fan content, and is one of the best pieces of media I've had the pleasure of experiencing. Thank you for creating this masterpiece.

I read this years and years ago...for a long while too. Then it just...vanished. I'm not sure if it was my interest waned or the internet got weird (apparently tumblr unfollowed you at some point!) But either way.
To see the end, years later. To find this was still being worked on, still beloved, years later....

Thank you for making this. Truly, thank you. It has been my favourite fic(/au in a way) since the first few pages, and I can't believe you continued to create long after the mainstay undertale fandom died out, but I am so grateful. This comic series means so much to me and so many other people. I recently got back into Undertale and wanted to check out where this story had gone. To find out it ended made me cry if I'm being honest. I knew this comic would end someday. I will always adore this series, and the way the story ends leaves so much for interpretation. One of the best, and the most impactful no doubt, comics I have ever read. Thank you for telling this story.

I can't express how much this comic has done for me. I suspect this comic alone sparked my transition from burnout and helped me rekindle a special interest I'd been too tired to pursue for years.
Thank you so much.

Like so many others, I read the first few pages of this comic when it initially came out. I remember staying with it until Gaster 'fell' into the core, and then... drifted. Coming back, what must be at least five years later, I'm here to say I'm glad I found your comic, in this little corner of the world. Many of the quotes from this story are truly inspirational (most of them, naturally, coming from Papyrus!) and I hope to hold them with me the same way I do its source material, UNDERTALE. Zarla, you've managed to make me feel the whole range of human emotion, from laughing to crying to fits of rage. I wanted to thank you for the experience. Maybe it's all too fitting I reread this story the same day I complete my first True Pacifist run of UNDERTALE in almost seven years...
Much love, Raymond.

thank you so much for all you’ve done — i can’t imagine the commitment this comic must’ve been. i was in middle school when i started reading this, and here i am, starting college. this comic has strangely been consistent throughout all of it, even though i’ve left my little undertale phase — this comic has a special place in my heart, and i don’t doubt i’ll go back and reread it when the time comes. it’ll be sad to open this page and not see any more updates, but you’ve done so well with this story (and for so many years too), that i can only really find it beautiful. thank you again.

I started reading this comic around a couple to three years ago during COVID (because I was bored, who wasn't?). I thought about it nearly every night, and it was just a MASTERPIECE. I didn't know comics could be that amazing! A little while later, I had to stop reading it due to reasons (I don't really remember those). Now, I decided to check back on it. When I realized it was finished, I frantically rushed back to the beginning and re-read it insanely fast. I also nearly cried at parts. I still believe this is a true masterpiece.
Thank you, Zarla.

idk if you even read these since you finished this so long ago, but I really wanted to say thank you for this comic. I first discovered this au so long ago, maybe 2019?? and for the longest time i couldn’t find the ending but I was so obsessed with it, I would watch the dub I found over and over and over again! Finally I found a post yesterday about where you posted the full thing, and I was so excited! I spent the whole of yesterday and today re-reading it and FINALLY seeing the ending! and god thank you so much, this au is definitely one of my special interests now! I love it so much even in the most angsty-ist parts! The way you tied everything together was god honest so amazing, most of the aus or fics or even headcanons I see aren’t as thorough about connecting it to the plot of the actual video game! I love Undertale so much and your au is my absolute favorite! I don’t think I’ve ever been this invested in any piece of media before! And honest to god wherever you are, I hope you are doing amazing. I’ll bet this sounds dramatic but between 2019 till now, 2024, so much has happened for me, and even though I never saw the complete “Handplates” in chronological order till now, it really did help me through everything that happened… like my determination (lol) to see this comic to the end was an anchor. I loved your arts style, and your characterization of all the characters were THE MOST on point i’ve ever seen them! I really truly hope wherever you are in your life, you are doing amazing. (im slightly upset that i can’t think of a better word than ‘amazing’ but it’s okay.) Honest to god thank you for not abandoning this au, it really is my favorite<3 definitely bookmarking this story forever<3333/gen

I left the fandom a few years back, so I stopped following Handplates a while back. I think when it was still not very linear. Just had a fanfic of it updated and got reminded of it. Went to go reread out of nostalgia. And man, thank you for this gem. It was already amazing in the early days, but you managed to turn it into a story I'm not sure I'll ever forget. Thank you.

i found this comic on youtube through the starbot dubs. with the INCREDIBLE voice acting, IMMERSIVE editing, and HEART WRENCHING writing on zarla’s part, those season-long handplates “movies” are one of my favorite few hour long experiences. i had already finished that dub once but became too lazy to read onward. on my second watch through, im SO HAPPY i came to read the comic myself. the authors notes are actually such a beautiful part of the story themselves. plus, now ive actually seen what happens to sans, papyrus, and gaster. gaster came back!!! totally alive and living and learning how to deal with the responsibilities he upheld through self sacrifice. i finally got to see papyrus and gaster hug. i got to see papyrus fulfill his trust and love for gaster, no matter how deep those sentiments have to delve into the actual villain of his life. sans knows truly that he is valued and loved. the brothers are inextricably connected so tight woven that its beautiful to invision just how ASTRONOMICALLY they love each other. i hope to be the 2-p to a 1-s, or the papyrus to a sans, or just a brother to a brother. i want to read every line of dialogue and examine every piece of art in this comic until im sick of it. i NEED to consume this; its perfect its beautiful and its still here for me whenever. thank you so much. ive never loved a story so much. 💛
Thank you for the ride!

You know. I never thought that I'd be posting a comment on an *undertale fanfiction.* I don't feel like I'd generally strike people as the *type* to reread a fanfic like this multiple times, much less actively keep up with it. And to think it's now over... Thank you, Zarla. Genuinely. It's funny. The same way you refer to Undertale, I'm certain is how many people refer to Handplates--something that *does* matter, and that matters to a *lot* of people.

I actually only found this comic yesterday, but I couldn't put it down. I read it all in one day and this is a pretty long comic. I loved it so much and I was actually sad that I wouldn't get to see more. It was so good that I wanted to see more adventures of Sans, Papyrus, and Gaster after the barrier broke. I know this will probably never happen, but it's nice to dream. Thank you so much for giving us, as readers, your time and effort for all these years. I may have only come yesterday, but all those years of hard work, and yes determination, have given me this amazing comic.

I just reread this, and I can say that this comic has done so much to change my life somehow. it is when I was in my first year of high school to now in my own home reading this, it brings me so much warmth to know that Sans and Papy are healing from trauma and so is Gaster, it's such a bittersweet ending to me because I know that they'll still be in pain but in the end they still love each other in their own ways. this comic is the best one I've seen/read in years.

this is my 4th time rereading, but my 1st time truly reading (I listened to the comic dubs so some parts were left out) and as cringe as it may sound, I don't cry much. It takes quite a bit to invoke true emotion in me, and Handplates delivered. I cried thrice! I also audibly gasped and yelled multiple times. This is just... pure talent. I don't think there's a better comic out there. I feel like Handplates just set the UT comic community and played one of the biggest parts in it. Needless to say, I loved Handplates and every aspect of it.

Stickler I may be, I enjoy the closeness to established canon this is. Your attempt, a successful one I believe, at making a man only spoken about what basically amounts to indirect metaphor and inferred knowledge, into something real, fleshed out, and trying to provide context, reasoning, and meaning to arguably one of the most intriguing "noodle incidents" in media.
Even more amusing, I found out about Handplates thanks to Ukagaka. First someone talking about them, your video on the software, and stumbling upon your Gaster Ghost, all in a short amount of time.
May your days be long and your woes few, and, maybe we may speak beyond comments, one day.
Thank You

I was 10 when I first discovered Handplates, I am 19 now and finally finished reading it front to back. I believe I hadn’t kept up after about 2021? So coming back again has been so healing and amazing. When I first found the series I was engrossed in Undertale, it had changed my life, and this comic did just the same. I read the comics, when the dubs began releasing I was further obsessed, I was so sad when the dubs stopped updating because I liked reading and watching both at the same time to refresh myself on what happened in the series up to whatever point. This comic series had captivated and comforted me at some of the darkest times, it’s for me a huge part of the Undertale experience now. And its message is just as touching. Each plot and character is written so well, despite nearly no character being human, they still feel alive. I will praise this as one of the best if not the best ever fan made project ever. Thank you for making a huge part of my childhood and likely so many others. Your way to escape or find comfort brought so much to many others as well. <3
Thank you

I don't even remember how old I was when I first found this as a fandub in YouTube and now after all these years it's finally finished, this is probably my favorite au and Undertale comic ever, it's literally what got me into undertale lol, but what I really want to say is thank you for giving this masterpiece, it's perfect and just so you know you made something more than just a comic, this is my and a lot of people's childhoods and that is beautiful
Thanks :))

I used to be really into Undertale years ago and followed your comic religiously from almost the beginning. But as my passion for the game died down, I fell off updates and never got to see the end. I wondered sometimes how Sans and Papyrus were doing and if they ever found out what that room meant or what the Boss Computer, did but I ultimately never got around to checking in on them. But then I scrolled past a post on Tumblr mentioning how the comic had ended, and I immediately rushed to see where my little skelebros ended up, and considering how long it had been, I decided to read from the beginning. And then didn't stop. I read this front to back in one sitting, because just as it had sucked me in years ago, it hooked me with it's amazing story, deeply fascinating characters, stellar visuals and just. It's just so good. I cried more times than I dare admit, and this story means so much to me. Thank you for everything and for giving Sans and Papyrus the ending they deserve. It might be bittersweet but they got to be free, completely free. Of resets, of Gasters torment, of the ceaseless wondering and questions. They got their answers, and they got to look their past in the eyes and make something new and better of it. I'm so happy for them. And even Gaster, a monster so riddled with pain and regret he wouldn't even consider trying to be better than the terrible person he'd decided he was. Even he got to try again. Whether he deserves that chance is up to each person to decide but regardless, he's trying with the chance he was given. And that has to count for something, even if only Papyrus will ever truly be able to look past what he's done. I love Gaster, he's my favourite character, and I'm so glad we got to see him try. This man could really benefit from therapy, but I somehow doubt he'd be interested. Anyway thank you so much for every single panel and page. I will keep rereading this as long at it's available. Thank you so much for everything you've given us.

I just recently came across your tumblr page on a comic of Handplates. And now I’ve wound up here, reading it all again, finishing it for real. I don’t remember when I first read this and ended it at, it was probably 2018-19 or something like that, but I’m glad I can finally read it to the end. This brought me many tears but also some smiles. This is one of the best Undertale fan comics that I’ve read. Thank you for making this for us, it is truly wonderful.

I can't even put in words how much this story has impacted. I remember just two years ago finding the comic dub on youtube that was voiced, thinking it was some kind of silly fan comic, and in the end staring at the screen with my mouth open in shock. I honestly thought for a good amount of time you had abandoned the comic, so when I heard you finished the comic and found the link to this website just today (in tik tok of all places), I had never gotten so excited. But all that aside, this comic is just beautiful, words can't even begin to describe how much I love everything about this comic. The way its written, the foreshadowing, the way you develop everyone's characters throughout the story (ESPECIALLY Sans and Papyrus), your art style, and the ending is so bittersweet.
You can just see the amount of care and love you placed in every character and how much you thought of the story, leaving no plot-holes or missing pieces.
There are very few pieces of literature, especially comics that have impacted me in such a way, I could even argue that this is better written than most published books.
You're such an incredible writer and artist, and I can't begin to show my appreciation to this comic.
Thank you Zarla

i think it’s funny that so many people here (me included) found their way back to this comic after several years. this (and insomnia by wily) are two works that i checked religiously for updates (and also author’s life updates) way back when, and then would always remember once every blue moon even though it had been years since i was deep into undertale lore. i was so shocked when i saw it was finished - somehow it felt like it would never end. what a story, and what execution. the characterization of each character and the way everything tied in so neatly with canon (but also expanded on it) will forever be burned into my brain. happy living zarla

i started reading Handplates back in 2015 or 16, and i loved it. your art style is gorgeous, and the worldbuilding and character development is mwah. i would end up checking back every year or two when i remembered to, binging whatever the story had gotten up to at that point. i always enjoyed it and every time was a trip down memory lane. so i felt very nostalgic checking back this time and seeing that the story has actually concluded. i think i'll spend today reading through the story front to back, because it occupies a very special place in my heart. thank you for the amazing work.

It was a pleasure to read, I couldn't stop myself from reading it until my brain just stopped comprehend whats written. I really love this story, and itd fit almost perfectly into original story, which i love a lot. Big inspiration for headcanons. Im also really impressed by how well written the psychology between charactes, their feelings and emotions, it's all so good and natural

I watched the dubs back in 2019, when I was a quite young. They never really left my mind. I've just discovered the story had an actual ending! And to think it was a happy one as well! Who would have thought. This had been a very formative piece of work for me, and for so many others. I'm glad fate led me back to finally get to see the ending. Thank you for this.

I don’t have much to say. This comic’s start has LONG influenced my own imagination since the first time I’ve seen it. This is the first time I got to read the majority of it, even. You’re an inspiration, Zarla, you’ve done what I wish I could do! I admire your dedication to finish this, after so many years! And thank you for inspiring my many tales I’ve told no one but myself for years. It’s not everyday a freshman in high school, newly exposed to the idea of children fully grown in test tubes gets to thank the artist who had shown the topic nearly 7 years later.
Your mind has been nothing short of brilliant.

I have been a fan of Undertale since its release almost 10 years ago. I seem to come back to it every year around Christmas because that's when I actually started playing it. And replaying. And replaying... until I couldn't find anything else left in the game. I was introduced to Handplates because of Starbut Dubs (R.I.P) and loved the dubs and comic. When I seen they weren't continuing I was upset, but not before I found the actual comic. After reading more panels I had shelved it for a few years. I came back just last week to see that it was finished and wanted to see how it would end. And boy was I happy to be back. It was truly a wonderful thing to have seen this through to the end. And while it has come to an end, doesn't mean I'll ever forget it. Thank you so much for making such an amazing series, and I wish you the best of luck in future stuff you create❤️

I first started reading this maybe 3 years ago? But then...*gasp*...I forgot about it, and pretty much comicfury in general lol. But yesterday, I made a post on reddit asking for good Undertale AUs, and someone recommended this to me. Immediately I remembered reading the first page, all those years ago, and I ran here in order to finish it. And I did, in only 2 days....and it was amazing. The characters, the plot, and all the emotions--you have created something beautiful out of a game that has touched all of our hearts, and I'm so glad I discovered Handplates again. Thank you so much, I will definitely be keeping up with future stuff that you do :)

So happy I did a deeper dive and was able to finish the comic in its full, Gaster's philosphical way of speaking has rubbed off on me after 7 hours of only Handplates. I NEVER READ THIS ENDING! I read this comic years ago and thought it ended on the genocide route, but the skele-bros remember and got Gaster back and everyone’s up on the surface??? I am literally so happy I’m crying and making weird noises words cannot properly describe how much I love this comic and I truly mean it when I say this is my most favourite piece of Undertale fan media. It was also kind of cathartic in a way. I relate a lot to Papyrus, seeking validation and praise from someone who hurt you. I’m so happy that he got it. I’m so happy I love this so much. I read it in two sittings over two days. This is a phenomenal comic <3333333

Aaaaaaaaaah, this is over... I started reading this in 2019, a translation because at that moment in my life my English wasn't good enough to read and understand complex words, I was following this until 2021, and I stopped because of some situations and blah blah, life is complicated. Yesterday I found this again, or my brain just had a memory about this and I was like HOW COULD I FORGET ABOUT THIS?, the name was clear in my mind and BOOM quick search and I found it. In 2019 I was about 13, before the pandemic, before everything, at that time I was having a hard time though but the pandemic was worse or maybe better in a way, every situation shapes us and creates our current selves so every hard time in our lives change us, sometimes in a good way sometimes in a bad way (philosophy lmao). So I don't know. This comic was beautiful, I remember I was a huge fan of this but never had anyone to talk to about it.
I read this using all my free time, I had flashbacks while I read everything since the beginning, for a moment I felt like I didn't change at all like I was still that teenager dreaming awake and was beautiful. Sometimes I would love to forget the past, but I don't want to forget this again. My memory is not good, I can't even remember a lot of things I did before the pandemic, but this, this is amazing, it was one of the best things I could find, I think despite not having a good memory, every situation, everything I've done or lived make me the person I am, I LOVE THIS AS I DID THE FIRST TIME I FOUND ABOUT IT. It's amazing, I'm keeping this comic in my heart forever. It was a good story, thank you, thank you.
Thank you

Zarla! Thank you so much.
I started reading your comic when I was about 11 and didn't continue past a handful of the undubbed pages on DeviantArt. I was too young to understand, and the emotional weight went over my head.
But now, I'm older, and I was able to enjoy your mastery in its fullest. Your writing and illustration are unparalleled. I cried, I laughed, I was screenshotting panels, and I haven't done that in 6 years. I am so impressed that you were able to see Handplates to completion. That is real dedication. When you finished the comic, I think I wasn't doing the best in life. But I'm glad that I can enjoy it now, and I'm happy it gave you comfort, too.
It's really endearing to see someone else comment with a similar experience to me just yesterday. It gives me confidence that your work will continue to move others. You may not read this, but I'm sure I won't be the last commenting on this page.
So thank you, truly, for all of your work. I'd want to say I'm proud of you at the risk of sounding condescending-- I am just a reader, after all. But until I find a better word, I'm proud. I hope you're doing well, wherever you are :)

hey! so I have just now stumbled across this comic, and wow. just, wow. I did not expect this level of thought and mastery of craft in the way you wrote this. The end honestly made me cry, as undertale has also affected so much of my life. the way you portrayed trauma, healing, grief and the powerful bond of siblings was incredible, and for a random comic I randomly found like, 9? 10? years after its start. I just... I'm blown away. I have no idea where you are right now in your journey of creation, if you will see this, or if you even frequent this site anymore... but thank you. what a cathartic, and wonderful time this comic has been. Wherever you are in life, just know that you made many peoples days just a bit brighter with this fantastically written and drawn comic. good luck in life, and stay determined, friend <3

I'm a little sad we won't get to see more of the trio together and healing. I was also interested in seeing how gaster and papyrus would react if sans were to go into another coma. Would papyrus not want gaster's help? Would he specifically ask for gaster's help in fixing the comas?
But I'm glad this comic wasn't left unfinished. Thank you!

I found this comic when it was first being released… 10 years later and I find it to be completed. Honestly one of the most heart wrenching comics I have ever read and to see it completed makes me feel something I can’t describe. I loved this story as a teen, and now as an adult I love it even more. I wish I could put my feelings into words for this comic, but it’s much too difficult. I can’t believe it’s done. I enjoyed every moment, every page and every word. Thank you. Thank you for this.

First of all i just wanted to say thank you for making this! Its my favorite Undertale comic by far! I've loved this series for as long as i can remember and I got one of my friends to read it as well. I was wondering if I could use a similar concept to Sans and Papyrus's situation at the beginning of the series in my own AU? Different characters, same "me and my brother were experimented on as kids" kinda thing. And ofc id give u proper credit for the idea. Anyways i love ur art and comics and plot and I wish you the best ^^

I only started reading Handplates in 2025 and I was so invested I stayed up to finish it all it one night. This gave me the same connection the original Undertale had, maybe even more so because of how much effort you put into it and the emotions expressed through all the characters. I feel that same feeling now that I first felt when I finished Undertale: not wanting to let go of a beautiful story and always wanting to see "what's next?", but there isn't anything left anymore... It's a bittersweet feeling. I'm sure I will read this comic many more times. Thank you for your work, so much. Beautiful stories are what give people hope.
Sad but grateful.

I didn’t get to see this story as it unfolded, and I’m sad that I won’t get the chance, but I’m grateful that I got to witness this journey. Even if I wasn’t there from the beginning.

looks like there's a lot of these just labeled "thank you", haha. i followed handplates pretty actively when it was new but drifted from fandom spaces and so didn't properly see the latter half of the comic until now. the way that gaster truly, genuinely is allowed to try to be better, despite everything he's done... it means a lot to me. i have some specific trauma i feel is very represented in handplates, and the way that things conclude here really help me feel valid in my complicated feelings about it all. from the bottom of my heart, thank you for telling this story.

I want to get into my screen to yours and give you a hug as big as the hugs papy gives to gaster, this comic changed my life like you have no idea and I thank you for that, I can even say it saved my life :'D

This is too good to not have a physical copy. You are so talented to make and finish a comic, I always end up getting bored and stopping. This was such an experience (a good one at that), I wasn't in a seat anytime I read this, but I would probably get so far off the edge of my seat that I would fall if I was on one. Perfect, every moment of it.

i remember reading the beginnings of this comic way back when. 2015 was... 10 years ago now. it's surreal to me. finally making it to the end almost feels like a love letter to myself, in a way. i suppose this entire comic is a love letter to video games and how creation can really shape your mindset and how you interact with the world. breaking it apart, figuring out every little detail. 100%ing, in a way, is finding out how to truly LOVE a piece of video game media.
10 years ago, i was hardly aware of myself enough to truly understand this sort of thing, let alone do any sort of meaningful analysis. but (and i'm really dating myself here) as someone who's beginning college this fall, i'm glad i waited. one day i'll make a detailed analysis, and probably some fanworks but... right now i think i'll let the emotions wash over me for a bit.
thank you for creating. thank you for sharing with us.

I remember back when Undertale first came out and i was crazy into the fandom and all the fan made comics about it and this was one of the first ones i was introduced to, thanks to Starbot Dubs and Calysto.
I'm pretty pleased that i took the time to come back and pick up where they left as this was one of my favorite Undertale comics. I enjoyed each page and all i can say is bravo.

I just found this comic this year and I’m so glad I did. The art is fantastic, and the story writing is some of the best I’ve seen. It’s honestly awe inspiring, and a great read for any Undertale fans out there.
I finished it in like a month, and I’m sorry I was SO LATE.
Maybe the best comic I’ve ever read though, and will definitely be reading it again. Thank you so much for writing, and it has been a pleasure getting to know the story and the author over this past month :)

I feel like I’ve been through this long, almost 8-year journey with everyone, even though I only found out abt this last week, from a dear friend of mine. I…I have no words. There are no words to describe how I feel rn. I almost feel…empty? Hollow, maybe even? It’s crazy how far this webcomic has come, and even though I haven’t played Undertale, I have become greatly attached to all of these characters-Gaster, Papyrus, Sans, Undyne, Alphys, Asgore, Toriel, Frisk, EVERYONE! And yes, even the big goopy monster guy. (He’s actually rlly cool in my opinion :3). Thank you to Zarla for making this comic. This was truly incredible, and I am honoured to have at least read this after their great journey to get here. Truly wonderful. (And it’s rlly nice seeing Gaster smile :))
Now, all that’s left to say is…
Ah, la vache!
And good morning, good evening, and…of course…goodnight…
What a journey.

Have to say, first found this comic about...3 or 4 years back? Dubbed on some YouTube channel. Anyway, absolutely adored it.
Come back now, read through it all again. What an absolute masterpiece.
Got to be my favourite piece of Undertale fan fiction I've ever read.
The art is amazing, the plot is amazing, it's just...I can't even put it into words. It's glorious.
I have no idea whether the writer will ever read this, but you've truly made something wonderful here. Never lose that creative spark.

Handplates took me barely five hours to read.
But I can see the years that it took to write. You took to create.
Perhaps Handplates hasn't changed anything in my day to day life, I'm still going to go to school, still going to play video games.
But it was a sensual read, and it has definitely changed at the very least my perspective.

Back when I was still a little kid learning times tables and reading comprehension, I somehow managed to find my way over onto the internet. There, I found Handplates. I got hooked on it like crack, even just the first few pages. I've closely followed it until the ending, but I never had the capacity to thank you before. I wouldn't be able to impart onto your soul the true weight of my thanks to you, but I hope these words do the trick. Thank you for inspiring my creativity, in writing and in art, thank you for inspiring other people to make amazing comics and stories, thank you for building this masterpiece that I have grown up with, thank you for amassing such endurance to see Handplates to its end. I find you wonderous, how you continued to fight against art block, and even physical block when your hand got hurt. Thank you, Zarla.

I remember catching glimpses of this comic back on deviantart or Tumblr I think it was? Years ago, when things were still out of order (it might have been in the early stages at that point) and I'd not known it was finished until I saw a commenter on an Undertale analysis video on YouTube that mentioned your comic, and I rushed to look it up! I was thrilled to find a site with the full comic! ("How to Kill a Time Traveler," was the video that mentioned "Handplates" in the comments, if you’re interested! It works really well with your comic and characterization of Papyrus!!)
So few portrayals of these characters scratches my brain in the perfect way, but you did so, so well with all of it. I find Gaster to be one of the most fascinating characters in the whole UT/DR universes, and you conveyed Alphys', Asgore's, and Toriel's relationships with him in suuuuch a compelling and addictive way. I always love a good comic binge, and sometimes the end leaves me feeling hollow, but yours, with your tie in to your personal experience with the story, your creation of this fantastic comic, and why it made the happy end of each character your wrote PERMANENT for them. I hope I'm not rambling and getting jumbled, I just want to translate my appreciation for something you've clearly put so much love into and shared with the world. I genuinely love what you've created here, and I'm thankful for your hard word and creativity!
I hope you're doing well, and that you've had a happy new year! 🏵🌺💕♥️🌸🦋💐🎂

This comic was an incredible read. I remember seeing voiceover movies years in the past and being so engrossed in the story but never being able to finish it all that time ago. It's so nice to see these characters get the happy ending they deserve, and coming back to the series as an adult, it's packed with a lot of lessons I could never digest when I was younger. Your work has not only inspired thousands, maybe even millions at this point, but shone a light on the beauty and fragility of the life we should all strive to live. Not many stories can fully capture the pain of turning over a new leaf, and the guilt you must hold with it. The amount of nuance and emotion you've depicted rivals and surpasses anything I've seen in recent memory, and it makes so much sense why this continues to stick out to me. I'm sure others feel the same way. Thank you so much for your work over the years. For what it's worth, we're all hoping you're doing well <3

Hello, (Not a native english speaker, but I'll try my best), I found the comic in dub form through Starbot Dubs channel in about 2018, hard to say though, since it was so long ago. However the impact this series has had on me was incredible. I've had difficulties in the past, to let myself go free and create my own stories due to certain insecurities, but this series has been living proof to me, that a good story doesn't need to be fully "original". What I mean is, with brand new charectors and a whole new world. What's enough, or at least to me, is a different perspective. What's even greater about this comic is the realism behind the charectors, if that makes sense. How could I ever relate to a depressed skeleton child with trauma issues? But I do! It's in the setting, the choices of the charector's, the push and pulls of Gaster's, Sans and Papyrus conversations. It's not real, but the details make it realistic. Yes, they are skeletons, but the fact that you can see yourself is unironically, bone chilling sometimes...and kind of cathartic. P.S. I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I hope you're happy. Thank you, and good luck on you're other projects.
It’s over…

I'm not sure if you still check these. Maybe you do, maybe you don't, and even though I could easily send you an ask on Tumblr, there's something nice about being in a sea of people who all feel the same.
I started watching dubs of Handplates a couple years after the comic began, like a lot of people here. I think it's one of the things that sparked my Undertale special interest, and while a lot of it has fizzled out, some still remains. I keep returning. It's hard to imagine I basically grew up with this. I'm becoming an adult this year. So thank you.
Aside from Handplates, I also want to thank you for the Stamp on the Ground video you made. When I feel my life is at a very good point, I like to watch and listen to it. It makes me very happy. I'm not sure why I do it, to a point it's sacred to me in some way I suppose? Not sure. Thanks :]

Hello! I think I made a comment on this page already as a guest but I don't actually remember which one was mine. I'll try to make this brief as everyone has said much of what I would have wanted to say as well. There are no words to describe this masterpiece you put your heart and soul into.
But I did want to say just a tiny fraction of what I feel and how this comic helped me.
I was never really in the undertale fandom when it was really a thing. It wasn't that I didn't think it was cool, and I even played some of the game but I stopped when I got stuck on Undyne's fight (I wanted to spare her but didn't know how) and honestly? I should've just gotten help to figure it out so I could keep playing because I was so scared of ruining the experience for myself that I just refused to look into anything about the game even though I knew I probably wasn't going to finish without help.
Now eventually I did come back years later and I forced myself to stop worrying about ruining the experience because I wasn't going on completely blind (can't exactly avoid everything for that long), and just play the game. It was a very special and rewarding experience for me even though I knew bits and pieces of the story. I only ever completed a pacifist route. I couldn't bring myself to do anything else not even any of the neutral routes. Maybe someday but...
Anyways of course years late as I was I got obsessed and ate up everything undertale related I could get my hands on, especially things with the skelebros since I am already known to have a soft spot for cute fictional brothers (looking at you Mario and Luigi, and Cuphead and Mugman).
So I read your comic only a few years ago. But it changed so many things about how I see the world and I swear literally got me through a good chunk of my young adult life. I can't thank you enough for everything, the nuance, the effort, the story you not only started telling but completed. That's more than I can say for myself. I never finish what I start and this is so impressive to me that you have.
Through this comic as well as your art in general, my like kind of changed? I mean it was reading this that actually led me to your TF2 content which got me into that and I met so many amazing people from that experience, and there's a lot of other stuff I could go into about how you inspired me to try drawing again after years and years of feeling like it was pointless to even try.
And out of all the fan works for undertale I've seen, this is one of the ones that's felt most true to the messages of the original story. The themes of redemption and hope and never giving up and even forgiveness, that's something that's so special to me. I believe there are things that are true across the universe. Things that matter no matter who or where you are, things that nothing can break, no matter how hard everything tries. Things like love and courage, kindness, mercy. I come from a religious and spiritual background and so for me things like this are very important, and experiences with knowing them and seeing them first-hand is... Well...that's why I believe in what I do.
And I know that you're work is so important and necessary and you've helped so many people, more than you could ever know, whatever they believe in religiously or otherwise. Just know that whatever is really out there, whatever is true, this has to matter. I just know it. Don't you ever feel like this is just a silly fan comic that will never really mean anything. Because just as you said, it did. It meant everything. It MEANS everything.
Sorry, that got longer than I was hoping but I guess I expected this. Look, I don't know if you still read these or if you ever even check this site again, but if you ever do see this, please know how much you and everything you did for us means to everyone who has ever read this. You probably won't ever be able to see just how much this means to all of us, but I hope the comments here and all across the comic at least give you an idea.
Thanks for everything. We love you so much, and it's not just because you blessed us with the most amazing freaking comic ever. It's because you shared your heart and soul with us, even though you didn't have to.
TL;DR: lots of rambling about the meaning of life, but this is certainly part of it. We love you!! Thank you so much! And thank you from me personally, you've truly changed my life.

i randomly remembered handplates earlier, and i felt the need to reread it because i had very fond memories of the series long ago. i was pleasantly surprised by a completely new story / interpretation / understanding than what i previously remembered, and i felt like i never gave it the credit it deserves. granted i was like, very young, so *of course* i didn't.
it was amazing to journey through the full comic for the first time in... maybe a decade? i dunno, somewhere pretty close to that. i honestly never expected something as random as "hey i just remembered a super old unfinished comic i liked!" to spiral into a whole "this might just be one of my favorite art pieces of all time!" and whatnot, but it happened! i feel extremely lucky and thankful for all the hard work you put into this project. thank you again.

For everything this comic is, thank you.
I don't see a reason to share my story here (I don't think anyone would read it even if I did), but just know that I can relate to Sans in this comic... a little more than I probably should.
But seeing him get his happy ending... it makes me hopeful for myself as well. So, for that, I wanted to thank you for making this comic. Honestly, it's good enough that if this was a physical book, I would buy it with little to no hesitation.
Thank you so much for the journey this story was, and I will read this again and again, likely for the rest of my life.
Thank you.

I remember watching a comic dub of this in 2017 (when I admittedly shouldn't have been there.. ) I decided to take a bit to reread this whole comic. It brought back so many memories, I didn't even know it continued, I stopped watching a bit ago because I never knew there was more. And I was also a dumb kid that didn't understand how to subscribe on YouTube.
But reading this again brought me to tears. I didn't expect to actually get emotional but this comic is really awesome and means a lot to me. I remember when Undertale came out and I was just a little kid enjoying every thing I could of it. And this comic was one of the first comics I ever saw of Undertale.
All this to say, I hope you are doing good as this was the end of Handplates and it has been a while since it ended. I'm just hoping everything is going swell after this whole comic wrapped up. It was a emotional rollercoaster going down memory lane but I'm very glad I reread this!
Loved this series

I’m so sad that this comic ended, but it was really good! I’m sad and happy at the same time because this ending is beautiful but I didn’t want the series to end because I loved it so much. Absolutely amazing work with this! ❤️
Thank you!

It’s been so long since I stumbled on this comic through the dub on YouTube and only recently came back up on my recommended and I watched it through again certain that I hadn’t ever finished it, turns out the dub was incomplete so I googled it and found this website and boy! I loved this comic so much it rippled through my life like a certain Double D Gaster, thanks for making this, it stands as a beacon of what makes Undertale so damn good: the restraint it takes to enjoy something you love and let it go, that stuffs magical! Hope you’re have a great time wherever you are xx

I remember first seeing the starbot dubs videos on this like 10 years ago when i was like 10 or 11, and loving it and revisiting it every few years, and now in the span of a day i finally got to read it all myself, and found out what happened after "season 3" as the dub called it. Genuinely so good

I've been following this comic ever since the beginning and only very recently rediscovered it after a long time. I never realized just how much I related to your versions of these characters and how they perceive the world they're in. It makes me so happy to see this comic finally conclude and this is the best ending for it. It's sort of bittersweet, nothing is fully resolved and everyone still has their inner demons (probably literally in Gaster's case if my interpreting of the goop demon is correct), but the groundwork for bettering themselves is there and that's all we can hope for for our favorite skelebros and other monsters. Thank you for sharing this story with us and seeing it to the end ❤️❤️❤️
PEAK AS ALWAYS, THANKS

You REALLY are responsible of my fanatism with Undertale, in a way, i remember being scrolling past a bunch of YouTube recommendations and then passing by a fanbud of your comic, I will NEVER regret clicking into it, I was already into UT but with your comic I got even MORE invested, thanks to you it now has been like 9 or 10 years in this fandom and I thank you a lot for it, however, I always tought your writhing was soo fire and WELL IT REALLY IS, this changed my brain chemistry, I thank you a lot for this, i really mean it

Hey, I was wandering wether you could make another one from Frisk's POV or maybe Gaster's or Sans, please? Yes? Maybe???

This isn't my native language, it's way too early, and I'm feeling too lazy to think, so I asked AI to translate this (so please excuse any errors). I just wanted to thank you for your work—your dedication and sensitivity are truly touching. Let's just say the mysteries surrounding Gaster have always gotten to me, and I really loved the background you gave him, especially the possibility of redemption. I started reading a few years ago, and coming back to see that the story was finished felt like a warm hug. I can safely say I'll carry Handplates with me forever. Thank you 🩷
