Luisa, something in you has begun to move again. You only need to let go of what is lifeless, of what remains still while you keep moving. You need something new, the desire to share, to connect with others. It is in those moments that you live well, that you feel truly at ease again. Perhaps, without knowing it and without meaning to, you have found a real alternative to the life you were living. And with it, something you had not seen: you do not need to find love. You already are love. Your eyes no longer look out from the same place. Now your tears are no longer born of despair, but of joy. You thought it was insurmountable. It was only time. It reached you and recognized you at the truest moment of your life. Luisa, through others, you come to recognize it in yourself. Author’s Note Luisa comes from a true story. It was born from watching someone slowly return to herself, not because everything around her had changed, but because something within her had begun to move again. Sometimes we spend so much time searching outside ourselves for what we believe is missing that we fail to recognize what has been there all along. This poem is about that moment of recognition. About discovering that love is not always something we have to find. Sometimes, through others, we simply begin to see that it was already within us. — Antonio Castellaneta
