Politics often fails Latinos because it ignores culture.
This is part 4 of a 6 part series focused on Latino representation and how we can deliver power to el pueblo.
Too many campaigns think cultural engagement means translating a website into Spanish. That is not enough.
Latinos engage when they feel seen. When their music, art, humor, language, and traditions are respected. When campaigns show up at community events. When they partner with artists and storytellers who reflect lived experience.
Culture builds trust. Trust builds power.
I have seen culturally competent campaigns outperform traditional ones because people finally felt like politics was speaking with them, not at them.
If people cannot see themselves in the system, they will not engage with it.
What cultural spaces make you feel most seen and connected? How could politics show up there more authentically?
