It’s been a minute.
I didn’t disappear by accident. I stepped away on purpose. I’ve taken “breaks” in the past where I went quiet for a week or two or perhaps a bit longer, but I realized burnout takes more than couple of weeks to recover from.
Also, life asked for more of me, and I chose to listen. There was space I needed to take. Things I needed to process. And clarity I didn’t want to rush.
But I’m coming back, sort of. And for those that checked in with me from time to time, I’m so thankful.
I’m not returning with pressure to post constantly or say something perfectly polished every time. Just with a commitment to show up again. More honestly. More intentionally.
A few updates:
Life has been full in ways that are both stretching and grounding. I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on my work, especially around what it means to engage people in conversations about race, parenting, and community in ways that actually move us forward. Not just awareness, but action. Not just learning, but unlearning.
Professionally, there have been some shifts too:
I’ve promoted within my organization.
I’ve been certified in multiple social work evidence based interventions/practices.
I’ve worked on obtaining additional credentials in education.
Some things I’m currently building or exploring:
Moving into adult education as an associate professor
Clinic based psychotherapy
And some things I’m still sitting with:
I’m a Californian , the new governor election!
Do I ever want to return to TikTok/Instagram type content.
I’ve also been thinking about how we hold space for hard truths while still making room for growth. I’ve been very gentle with my content, I’m tired of conversations of awareness, and want to learn more about actions being taken in the community. That tension of everything has been sitting with me a lot.
And I want this space to reflect that. Real conversations. Nuanced ones. The kind that don’t always wrap up neatly.
So as I ease back in, I want to hear from you.
What do you want more of here?
What conversations are you craving but not having?
What feels confusing, frustrating, or even uncomfortable right now that you wish someone would just say out loud?
It could be about parenting, anti-racism, relationships, identity, or something else entirely that’s been sitting with you.
You can reply, comment, or just sit with the question for now. Either way, I’m glad you’re here.
More soon. Slowly.
