I was blown away at Mass MOCA out in the wilds of NW Massachusetts in the old mill town of North Adams by a Chicano artist - Vincent Valdez. I had never experienced his work before and now I’m a huge fan.
The above is a 30’ painting that sent shivers down my spine, literally.
The even had a freaking low rider truck in this huge exhibit…
Chavez Ravine is an ugly story of how Chicanos in LA had their homes sold out from under them for what was to be low income housing, but ended up being Dodger Stadium.
Then there was an exhibit called Magic. Here are some of my favorites from that one.
