Beloveds,
Not gonna sugar coat this one today. Dying to myself was probably one of the most painful things I’ve ever experienced. Worse than betrayal by a beloved. Worse even than the death of a loved one.
Dying to your concept of self, the layers of identity that gave you meaning. Dying to your dreams, what you planned for your life. Dying to the promises you made to yourself, even.
This is what we mean by ego death. And boy howdy does the little mind rebel against it! (This is actually the cause of the pain - not the death itself.)
As we continue to descend into this collective - and for some of you, a personal - dark night of the soul, we are being confronted with death. Here in the northern hemisphere we are in spring, the season of resurrection. But there’s no resurrection without the experience of death first.
Last week I talked about all of the confrontations we are tasked with in this time. Death is perhaps one of the most challenging for us in the west to confront - and perhaps the most integral.
Thanks for reading The Love and Liberation Diaries! This post is public so feel free to share it with your soul peeps.
Today’s Shamanigans kitchen table talk is dedicated to death. Not to upset you, but to remind you that it is simply a necessary (albeit very painful) part of the larger process we are all in. And there’s no way out but through. <3
Also, if these Sunday “sermons” are supportive, please like, subscribe and share with your soul family. I really appreciate it as it helps to spread this ministry of love.
The Spirit notes in this episode:
This period of death we’re in
This important week for death!
Why death is necessary to the dark night journey
What it means to die to yourself
The worst confrontation of all
Where this death will ultimately lead you
If this feels daunting, I hear you and offer some simple guidance to play with.
I am likely one of the most curious humans you’ll chance to meet. Not sure if that’s a Gemini thing or what (report back, fellow Twins!).
If you’ve done any work with me, either solo or in group, then you will remember that I am a passionate teacher of curiosity. It is a powerful way to shift your perspective (which leads to miracles, truly). It lifts you out of negative thinking, it altars the way you move through the world. It increases your capacity for self- and other-focused compassion. Simply put, a radical practice of curiosity will actually lead to transformation in your life.
How to start? When you feel locked in to one way of being, feeling or thinking, you can ask yourself: What if _______ could be different for me? You can also ask any number of questions that begin with: I wonder....
My parting thought: Through all of this please remember that we are in a process larger than ourselves. And you are not alone. I promise.
Big Love to you,
Anné
P.S. If you need support navigating the dissonance of the great awakening or your own dark night of the soul - all from a place of absolute alignment and LOVE - let's talk. We were not meant to do any of this alone.
