I’ve spent the last two weeks with my band grinding in the rehearsal space preparing for tour. My mind is blank right now, stagetime in 30 min. Did we do enough, too much or will the songs fall flat?
This is the moment if no return. We iron our shirts, shine our shoes, tune guitars and prepare our sounds.
I feel excited, slightly nauseaus and my hands are cold. To start a tour in your hometown is both thrilling and nervewracking.
Hours later….
The lights are out, the seats empty. It was a sold out show, first out of four.
The show slipped out of our hands and started to live a life of its own. Technical difficulties forced me to improvise, maybe it was a good thing. I played a song without amplification after my guitars went completely dead. After disconnecting and reconnecting my pedalboard they came back to life. I stumbled on with twice as much adrenaline pumping through my veins.
We worked our way back into a flow, staying connected on stage. The crowd helped us alot, thanks for your warm support.
Many hours later….
In a few hours I’m heading back to the theater for soundcheck and our second night. We will triple check my guitars and work on a new song. Still, anything could happen, it’s the beauty of playing live.
but first coffee and a long walk…
If you just found your way to this page, welcome! It’s less crowded and gives us a chance to connect outside of the algorithm.
