Dear Friend,
We have just 24 hours left to unlock £75k for our campaign to end factory farming! A long-term supporter has set it aside, but it only releases if we hit our monthly donation target across May, June and July. May is the first hurdle. We’re nearly there. If you’ve been thinking about it, now is the moment. Only monthlies count towards this one and every gift goes directly towards helping animals in the UK.
And the need to stand up to this industry, directly, and wholesale, has never been greater. Because this week, a major investigation by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism revealed that battery cow dairy farms in the UK have more than doubled in the last decade. From around 70 in 2015 to at least 180 today. The largest holds 2,600 cows. Not one of them will graze outside.
And if this wasn’t shocking enough unlike intensive pig and poultry farms, large dairy units aren’t required to hold an environmental permit. The government has no idea how many there are or where they are. The beef and dairy industry has been expanding in the dark, while racking up known 453 pollution incidents in England since January 2024 alone, more than three times the rate of other intensive farms.
Behind all of it is a corporate structure: Arla, Müller, Saputo, that has been quietly replacing Britain’s dairy industry with the cruellest form of factory farming while keeping the pictures of green fields and grazing cows on the bottle exactly the same. Enough of the bull.
We’re building a campaign big enough to make mega-farming a national conversation. And there are more of us than they want you to know. Don’t let them make you feel like this is inevitable or that you are alone. It isn’t and you aren’t.
Thank you to everyone who has already chipped in this week. We need to keep the streak going through June and July, but May is the first step and we’re nearly there.
24 hours.
Become a monthly donor before May 31st!
In solidarity,
Animal Rising
