There is nothing “beautiful” about what this law did.

Folks,

As of this weekend, it’s been a year since Donald Trump signed the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” into law.

I want you to sit with that word for a second. “Beautiful.”

That’s what they named the law that gutted Medicaid, let health care premiums skyrocket for working families and ripped food assistance away from kids — all to hand out tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans.

I grew up in a mobile home park in a family that barely scraped by, and let me tell you, there is nothing — nothing — beautiful about what it does.

I’m writing to you today because I don’t think most people have had a chance to learn about what was in the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” or how much worse it could get. So let me lay it out for you, plainly, the way I’d want someone to lay it out for me:

🔴 It was the largest cut to Medicaid in the history of the program. We’re talking about more than $1 TRILLION in estimated cuts over the next decade. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that millions of people will become uninsured because of these Medicaid and Affordable Care Act changes combined, and some independent estimates run even higher.

🔴 It buries people in red tape until they lose coverage — even when they’re eligible. Certain adults on Medicaid will have to prove that they’re working, volunteering or in school for at least 80 hours each month to keep their coverage. States that tried this before saw eligible people lose their health insurance not because they weren’t working, but because they got tripped up by a website, a form or a deadline. This isn’t about work — it’s about setting folks up for failure.

🔴 It let health insurance premiums spike for millions of families. The extra financial help that made ACA marketplace plans affordable has now expired. Here in Minnesota, enrollment declined by 28.2% and premiums doubled — or even tripled.

🔴 It threatens rural hospitals with closure. Rural hospitals are already severely underfunded. This law cuts the funding many of them depend on, then offers a “rural health fund” that covers only a fraction of what’s being taken away. Health experts are warning it could push hospitals in small towns across Minnesota and the country to close their doors for good.

🔴 It cuts food assistance for families who are already struggling. On top of the health care cuts, this law slashes SNAP by well over $200 BILLION over the next decade. Kids go hungry. Parents skip meals so their children don’t have to. That’s the “beautiful” part, apparently.

I could keep going. There’s more in this law, but here’s the thing I want you to take away from all of it… Every single piece of this policy moves away from care, away from coverage and away from helping people.

It’s disgusting, and quite frankly, Americans deserve better.

They deserve a Senator who’s committed to expanding health care access, not taking it away. They deserve a Senator who will take on powerful corporations and insurance companies instead of doing their bidding. They deserve a fighter.

But look, the NRSC and the special interests behind them are already pouring money into Minnesota to defend the same agenda that produced this law. If we lose this seat, the people writing bills like this one get more power, not less. But if we win it, we get one step closer to fair and affordable health care in America.

That’s the choice in front of Minnesota voters. And it’s the choice in front of you right now, whether you live in Minnesota or not, because control of the U.S. Senate runs through races just like this one.

So please: If you want to see a Senate that works for the American people instead of one that rips away their rights at every turn — rush any amount to my campaign in this final month before the primary election.
