I hope everyone is doing well. Here at the Turriff Footwear sample shop we are excited for the year to come. The plan is to get outside, keep moving forward and get some Functional Footwear on everyones feet.

I apologize for the delay in the process and absence of any updates. When we first started out I thought this would come together faster. I am used to working in the factory or studio where all the pieces of the footwear puzzle are already assembled. However with so many different elements to put together and many different people to organize I have found that is just not the case. At times it has been a battle trying to get these shoes made to my specifications. Nevertheless it has been fun, I have learned a lot and I am optimistic and excited for the future.

I had hoped to send an update sooner, but for the past few months the development process was really disrupted. Unfortunately the Mexican factory we had been using decided that they could not follow through with the project. As a result we lost time, the patterns and the lasts. Luckily I had the original set of lasts and a master pattern standard and was able to recreate the necessary technical work so that a new factory could pick up the project

The Turriff anatomical comfort last is much more asymmetrical than your average shoe last. Here you can see an original master pattern standard showing off the medial and lateral design lines. Having different design lines for the inside and outside of the last allows for a more balanced looking shoe.

After some searching, I have found a new factory to manufacture our Functional Footwear. I will go into more detail about them in the next update, but for now I am happy with how things are moving forward and pleased with what they have produced so far.

I am currently waiting on what should be the final round of development samples. If all is good, I will do some nice photographs so you can all get a good look at the factory iteration of the shoes. Then a pre-sale will open in early March on the updated Turriff Footwear website. With a 50% deposit you will be able to reserve your size.

With in the updated website you will be able to find detailed sizing information to help you choose the best fit. Based on mine and the factories schedules we are looking to start shipping our first run of Functional Footwear to your feet at the beginning of August.

Please note that I have decided to start with just 100 pairs. More than 100 people have expressed an interest in getting a pair so please keep that in mind once the pre-order begins.
