Crop Damage Minimal

The power stayed on through the storm that blew through New Jersey last evening. Bright flashes of lightning and lots of thunder, but it was the wind that knocked my cherry tomato crop over. I have a large pot on a stand to keep the critters from devouring everything. I have a cage and two stakes in it to keep the plants growing upwards. Now that it is flush with tomatoes, the whole lot of it has got a bit spread out and top heavy.

I was out early, not even half awake, righting the tangled mess of fruit filled vines. There were quite a few little green orbs rolling around on the ground as I wrestled with the oversized pot to get it back on its stand. If not for the cage and stakes the damage would have been far worse. Crop damage was minimal, but visible. The visual was not wonderful, but upright the crop stands again - Until the next storm.

We did not lose power for an hour, but Gary, Indiana lost theirs for more than a week.
