I’ve made it a mission to improve and rework my social media algorithm. I find it frustrating to either stumble across the most creative, interesting thing I’ve ever seen or AI slop.
If you’re feeling the same, here are 5 things that I’ve seen on social media recently that are creative, thought-provoking, and cool.
The idea of using a cute pillowcase as a dust cover for your computer is so chic. It’s one simple, yet amazing way of adding some beautiful touches in your room without having to do much work.
It’s also incredibly effective in its usage— it protects your monitor from dust, sun damage, or, if you have cats, from them scratching your computer! (iykyk haha)
I think this is also a fun way to “close up shop” if you work from home. This monitor cover would help stepping away from the computer after a long day.
I was also thinking that this could be such a fun diy project. You could add stitching to the pillowcase to have your name or any saying you want. It could also be illustration patches with fun designs—you can truly make the monitor dust cover your own!
I love when my feed gives me any kind of stop motion art—there’s nothing better than that! This video made by artist Simon Leclercq and director Alix Bortoli for Vogue Italia did not disappoint.
It’s sad to say but in the age of AI videos and pictures, it’s so refreshing to see something made by actual humans who poured their creativity, time, and effort into a project. I think it makes a big difference in how the viewer feels, especially when promoting something.
Back in August of 2025, Vogue published a Guess advertisement in their issue featuring AI models. This, of course, produced a lot of backlash against Vogue as it raised some really important questions on “the perfect body” and the consequences of implementing AI in the fashion industry.
I’m glad that Vogue listened to its readers and has worked with actual artists. This stop motion has elements of fun, whimsy, and creativity throughout the video that makes the viewer interested from the beginning to the end—something that AI could never recreate.
This video went viral on TikTok and for good reason—it’s just so cool!
This style of photography is called solargraphy, and the best part of this style of photography is that anyone can do it as it’s accessible! The way it works is by drilling a tiny pinhole onto an aluminum can (this acts as the lens) and placing a photographic paper inside. After this, decide on where you want the can to be and what you want it to capture. Due to the solar light, it exposes the paper and makes a picture. The process can be as long as you want—whether it’s a couple of days, months, or years. To fully see the results, take out the paper, scan it, and then invert it. Voilà! You have a solar graph!
I found this to be so inspiring in being creative with the things that we might already have at home. It proves you don’t need the fanciest of equipment to create beautiful art.
While simple, it’s also a fun way to create a new form of photography that you haven’t done before. Experimenting with exposure times and different environments can give you more captivating images.
If you have young kids, I think this is a cool activity for them to do! It’s creative but also has an element of science. Therefore, it’s a great way of keeping kids entertained without using an iPad or screen.
I’ve always been interested in art history and even more so when I studied it during high school and college. However, without attending courses or classes, it can be hard to find good sources that go in depth.
Therefore, when this video popped up on my fyp, I was so happy to see this!
I found it really informative for those who have a passion for art history but also for those who might want to start learning about it. I can go on and on and talk about the importance of studying art history but that’s a discussion for another time…or maybe a post? *side eye*
Sharing resources like these are so valuable especially when there’s a lot of information and don’t know where to start. As the creator of the video is deeply invested in art history, it’s a great recommendation to take up on instead of asking Chatgpt for a list of art history books that you don’t really know they are going to be good options or not.
This is also a great way to study something outside of school and make it your own personal curriculum. By having a book this detailed in the text and artworks, it’s valuable for your personal knowledge.
Talking about art, I love finding new artists that I haven’t heard about, and this video gave me some new artists and artworks to research.
The artist that I was most fascinated with from the video was Domenico Gnoli. After looking up his artworks, I am truly in awe of his artistry. I love the colors he used as well as how he drew fine lines and details. It gives a sense of realism by magnifying the small details of everyday life but still keeping it abstract.
As stated in the video, the art gallery Lévy Gordon Dayan is currently presenting The Adventure of Domenico Gnoli. It’s the largest exhibition of artworks by Gnoli in the United States in more than fifty years. The exhibition lasts until May 23 of this year.
While, sadly, I won’t be able to go see the exhibition, I am glad that there are newsletters like Anna Maria Volkova 's where one can learn about new artists and exhibitions.
I came across this reel by @rosieandroald on instagram showing all the children’s books they have in their little corners and bookshelves of their home as their PhD is on children’s literature. Maybe I’ve been living under a rock, but this is the first time I’m hearing a PhD on this topic and I am truly obsessed.
This got me thinking of how society talks about books targeted for adults like self-help books or non-fiction. They may be taken more seriously as they’re suited for adults but children are a huge minority and audience for books as well. Both children and adults are able to find fun and comfort through children books.
I also thought about how children’s literature is a complex thing—I would go on to say it can be harder to write a kid’s book than a book target to adults. The language, characters, storytelling, dialogues, and even colors they use and need are all important yet difficult things to master.
From a decorator’s perspective, having children’s books on your bookshelves is a beautiful way in incorporating color, history, and depth to your home. It can be a great way to showcase what series you loved from your childhood that has stuck with you since. You could even go as far as to collect special editions!
I hope this interested you as much as it did to me! There are so many things to watch on social media that it can be hard for the algorithm to give you some creative and clever content.
If you liked this post, I would really appreciate it if you hit the little heart button <3
See you next week! x
