Cool title, right?
Well, it wasn’t planned, it was inspired by me trying to ‘cheat’ this evening.
You see, time is running out and I needed to write and publish a newsletter tonight and I had an idea of what to write, but…
I decided that I would take what I had already written for a client and stick it into Claude and ask it to re-write it in my style.
At first glance it was pretty good.
But the more I started editing it the more I had to change.
I was cutting bits here, adding bits there, and changing lines so that they read better…to me, at least.
And then I spotted the time and realised that time was quickly disappearing.
I used to work until 9pm and so I would have had plenty of time, but recently I have been stopping at 8pm because I have been starting earlier in the day.
As I work for myself and can start and finish when I want I now finish at 8. It gives the good lady time to watch her soaps and I can listen to some quality music while I write, and I also get to enjoy some of the evening before she goes to bed.
Anyway, I digress…
Seeing the time disappearing I realised that I had no chance of pruning all of the AI generated reconstruction of my own work before 8pm.
It’s kinda funny really, here I am reconstructing an AI reconstruction of my own written work.
I would have been better off writing something new… and so I am!
This will be a short newsletter, but… it is a lesson learned.
I would love to use what I originally wrote asI liked it, but I wrote it for a paying client (no AI used) and that just wouldn’t be right.
Using Claude to re-write it was supposed to give me something I could quickly carve back into my own work… but the more I read the more I disliked it.
And so I binned it.
I shall have to give myself more time and write the article again from scratch.
Again, as I say, it’s a lesson learned.
I’m sure some people find it useful, and maybe if I gave myself more time I might have, but for me I find that it’s actually better for me to write my own content.
I don’t like the idea of publishing stuff I am not happy with.
It doesn’t need to be perfect, but it needs to be right to me.
So, I apologise for there being no tips, or secret revelations in tonight’s newsletter.
It’s just me saying that I tried to use AI like everyone else and it failed miserably.
Until next time.
Have a great day.
Andi
