Some things I wanted to show you

The last month has been mostly work (still), BUT I took a whole weekend off and read and slept and watched stuff with Spencer. AND we took a quick overnight trip to see Ben Folds in concert—I’ve been a fan of his for ~25 years and this was my first time seeing him. Incredible and I can’t wait to go again.

I randomly got sad/angry this week, mourning the life I could have had if I didn’t have to work for money to pay my bills. I know I’m no genius, but it still is kind of depressing what kinds of creations the world is missing out on because I can’t just pursue my interests and instead have to do what capitalism values.

ANYWAY! In related news, I’m still working too much and burntout. But we are nearing the end (I think, hopefully). My biggest concern at the moment is how to politely tell my big editing client that they don’t pay me enough to continue.

WATCHING:

The Sheep Detectives* (better than you’re expecting, surprisingly great); Virgin River S7 (nonsense but comfort-watch nonsense); Four Seasons S2 (so fun, new comfort watch); Obsession (incredible; well worth the hype); Widow’s Bay (amazing; the kind of show that has cultural essays written about it)

READING:

The Secret of Secrets* (mindless intrigue, what I needed this week); Girl Dinner* (so smart, I wish I wrote it); Through Gates of Garnet and Gold* (every single book in this series. I love them); The Summer that Changed Us* (heartbreaking and hilarious, I bawled); Brawler* (honestly made me want to write for litmags and go trad); Everyone is Lying to You* (loved it, especially after my own blogging days)
