Some things I wanted to show you

I’m still here though still buried. I almost didn’t even get a chance to pull this post together in time, but then I figured someone might worry I was dead (hi, mom!), and I needed the break to look at my not-work-related open internet tabs.

As of right now my last work deadline is the end of July, so send good vibes in the meantime. Writing ~80k + editing ~450k between now and then.

Documentary photography in an age of staged content : I’ve followed this photographer for around 20 years and have admired her so much. “Years later, I came back to photograph the granddaughter’s wedding. The grandmother was no longer alive. And when I walked into her parents’ house, that photograph was hanging on the wall. I want to talk about how that photograph got made, because I think the real answer is different from the answer most photographers would give. … The actual reason is that the grandmother stayed asleep.”

“We laced Nicole into her corset and her rib broke again”: Moulin Rouge at 25 — an oral history by cast and crew : I mean, do you really need any more excerpt than that headline. Moulin Rouge is one of my absolute favorites. For our first Valentine’s Day together, Spencer and I saw this movie at an Alamo Drafthouse. I love it so much.

A Nexus of Worlds: Stephen King’s Concurrent Work on IT, The Talisman, and The Tommyknockers : No excerpt. This is an academic dissertion about Stephen King and I haven’t read it yet but Spencer and I also just got this book, so I might be having a Stephen King fall.
