Recent work, exciting updates!

I’m an artist and creative technologist. I write about generative art, code, creativity and other interconnected topics. You can expect a diary on Fridays sharing the things I’ve been working on. Thanks for joining me here. 💖

Hello!

I kind of make it a point not to apologise when there are gaps in this newsletter partly because you’re not the boss of me but mainly because I don’t think anyone really cares to read an apology, but it has been a *while*. I have been using a lot of energy on a full-on day-job project but, by the time this goes out to you, it will be hours away from finishing!

That means it’s on to Art Time!

Artblocks Weekender

Art Time kicks off with a trip over to Marfa, TX to take part in the ArtBlocks weekender.

I’ll be part of the Artist Fair on Saturday 18th Oct, come and say Hi if you’re there! I will have small art to give out!

The Light Where We Meet

I’m presenting the work I made for Responsive Dreams in Barcelona, which took place over 19th-21st Sept. It’s been bothering me that I haven’t had a chance to update you about that yet, because it was a great time!

The series is available on ArtBlocks and (pssttttt) I have a sister print collection coming, which will be out next week. I’m collecting some test prints this evening!

Every work is responsive, which means it can generate like this:

or like this:

They’re also animated, and develop over time. In this video you can learn about the firefly algorithm which inspired the animation:

And this video gives a walk through of the whole exhibition:

It was also great to hang out with the other artists - Frederik Vanhoutte, (me), Aleksandra Jovanic, Monica Rikic, Niklas Roy, Yose Llobet, Santiago, Heeey, Rotor Studio, Xavier, Bustavo and Julian Hespenhelde.

Visible individuals include Wenke Blüt, Amy Goodchild, Alexis André, Monica Rikic, Niklas Roy, Yose Llobet, Glitch Life, Heeey Eth, Rotor Studio, Xavier Hébert-Baggott, Bustavo, and Julia Hespeneide. A yellow sign with black text reading "REFLECTIVE DREAMS" is on the left wall.

That’s all, thanks again for joining me!

I’ll leave you with this shot taken just outside of the Responsive Dreams gallery space, after the rain, and I’ll see you here next week!
