I’m an artist and creative technologist. I write about generative art, code, creativity and other interconnected topics. You can expect a diary on Fridays sharing the things I’ve been working on. Thanks for joining me here. 💖
It’s been almost two weeks since I got back from the US, where I presented The light where we meet during the Art Blocks Weekender in Marfa. An artwork about connections and collective behaviour at an event that somehow compresses a year’s worth of connection into a few days.
Minting of this firefly-inspired series is ongoing on ArtBlocks and there are even colour palettes that haven’t appeared yet!
I have also created a sister collection of three still artworks entitled The light where we met. The title is a nod to the finality, in contrast to the motion and transience in the original Meet series.
Each of the three artworks is available as limited edition prints:
20 prints at 8×10”
5 prints at 16×20”
After Marfa, I spent a week in Denver, vibing and visiting galleries. I saw immersive interaction at Meow Wolf, grass roots studios on Sante Fe Blvd and in the RiNo district, abstraction from Clyfford Still and all sorts at the Denver Art Museum.
Meow Wolf was fantastic as ever, I think this one (Convergence Station) ties for my favourite alongside the original House of Eternal Return in Sante Fe. I made a video about my experience here:
Now I’m back in London, still trying to translate all that energy into forward motion. I have a few ideas for the rest of the year, and it’s a case of figuring out where to place my efforts between:
creating tutorials and other content
developing my diagrams / meaning / message projects (and whether they could become an experiential installation)
branching into more products
plotter painting experiments
any other number of ideas that occur
Something fun I’m working on is a set of Christmas cards using my handwriting code. I’ve been experimenting with materials to make sure these are super fancy items.
I love the design in my latest tests but I don’t like how stark white the card blanks are, so I’m planning to upgrade the card stock to home-folded Daler Rowney so they’ll feel really special! These will be available very soon!
That’s all, thanks again for joining me!
I’ll leave you with this shot of a Marfa sunset and I’ll see you here next week.
