Ohio’s United Steelworkers District 1 endorsed Amy Acton’s campaign for governor, citing her commitment to standing alongside labor unions, investing in good paying jobs, and making Ohio more affordable for everyone.
The United Steelworkers District 1, which serves all of Ohio, is made up of 14 local unions and over 60,000 active and retired members.
“USW District 1 is honored to endorse Dr. Amy Acton’s campaign to be the next governor of Ohio,” said Donnie Blatt, the Director of the United Steelworkers District 1. “Dr. Acton is the only candidate in this race who will lower costs for working families, stand with Ohio’s labor unions, and keep right-to-work laws out of our state. We know she will be a strong advocate for us and our members.”
On Wednesday, Amy joined District 1 and Local 9309 for a tour of Cleveland-Cliffs in Columbus and a roundtable with workers.
“It was a privilege to welcome Dr. Amy Acton to our facility yesterday,” said Donnie Blatt, the Director of the United Steelworkers District 1. “During her conversations with our workers, she reiterated her promise to protect union jobs, lead with labor values as governor, and fight to build a state where all of us can get ahead.”
“I was honored to tour Cleveland-Cliffs and speak with their workers yesterday,” said Dr. Amy Acton. “Places like this represent what I love best about Ohio; grit, determination, and hard work. As governor, I will always fight to prioritize investments in manufacturing, expand access to good-paying union jobs, and advocate for an Ohio where all of us can thrive.”
