SAVANNAH, GA. — The beautiful, historic city of Savannah has a lauded food scene, and its bars are just as enticing. Today we’re showcasing eight of our favorite places to grab a drink, no matter whether you’re looking for a beer, a glass of wine, a cocktail, or a non-alcoholic option. For something distinctly Savannah, order the city’s signature cocktail — the Chatham Artillery punch. Dating back centuries, this lemony tipple includes bourbon, Cognac, and rum — it’s extra boozy. You’ll find variations of it on menus around town, so order one and raise a glass to Savannah.
BEER BAR
Why you should go: Pop into this Historic District staple — the city’s oldest continually operating restaurant (it opened in 1933) — for a cold beer, chili cheese dog, or burger. Enter around back and grab a seat at the long wooden bar. The beer list is deep, and local beers from Service Brewing Co., Coastal Empire, Southbound Brewing, and Two Tides are well represented among the offerings. Two Tides’ Crispi lager clocks in at 4.8% alcohol and is a nice, easy-going choice.

DIVE BAR
Why you should go: This dive bar has a storied history and is a true Savannah original. You’ll find locals ponied up at the bar right when the doors open in the early afternoon. The bar is cash only but the drinks are cheap — $2 High Life Ponies, $3 PBRs, or $8 cocktails like Negronis, Pimm’s Cups, and Fuzzy Palmers, which are boozy, peachy Arnold Palmers. There’s all kinds of Savannah paraphernalia, including Jimmy Carter signs; the former President famously visited when he was still a state senator — so you really never know who you’ll meet here.
