The Midterms Are the Republicans to Lose (UPDATED)

Has Simon gone crazy? (Maybe)

Isn’t the party in power legendarily the loser in the midterms? Doesn’t two-thirds of the world and most of the solar system hate Donald Trump?

Well, sure, but so what?

What’s interesting is that a good percentage of them cannot say why.

But never mind that.

The climate in our country has changed. The Democratic Party “Big Tent” is coming apart at the seams.

Jihadists and Jihadist Adjacents, not to mention some neo-Leninists and admirers of Chairman Mao, have taken over, or at least taken the limelight, of the party, and are shredding that tent to such a degree the Ringling Brothers road crew wouldn’t be able to hold it together.

The officials of the party, Chuck Schumer and co., are stunned, too cowardly to react. They never stood for much, and now they stand for nothing.

Once the Dems were the party of the working class, but, in case you haven’tnoticed, the working class isn’t too fond of open borders with illegal immigrants taking their jobs or of the aforementioned jihadists dropping their prayer rugs in the middle of our streets five times a day.

Not that the Republicans are a whole lot better. In many ways they are as neutered as the Democrats. John Thune is Tweedledum to Schumer's Tweedledee.

That’s why I titled this the midterms are theirs TO LOSE.

For the Republicans, this is a teaching moment for people who have never been particularly good teachers.

That includes President Trump, who, for all his admirable, near-constant transparency and witty, entertaining style (once no longer president, he could rule late-night like no one since Johnny Carson), will have to explain to the American public just why socialism with its state control of industry leads inexorably to communism. And then how communism under Mao and Stalin is responsible for vastly more deaths and/or interminable incarcerations than virtually anything else in human history, recorded or not.

They have just a few weeks to unwind our disastrous educational system and malign media that have misinformed our youth to such a degree that they have become—of course, with exceptions—largely a generation of historical and cultural ignoramuses.

It will be a struggle, but the Republicans will be helped in the endeavor by the fundamental dishonesty of their opponents. Socialists and Islamists tend to be, at best, hypocrites, but more frequently obdurate liars, trying to deceive the public about their real goals. It’s been that way since the Bolsheviks.

Just today, CNN, of all media, exposed that Michigan Democratic senatorial nominee El-Sayed as having erased some 100 of his own YouTube videos just before running. Among them, in true totalitarian tradition, was an endorsement of removing the Second Amendment. He also said “fireworks suck” and advocated banning them on the Fourth of July.

But these happened a long time ago…. 2024! They don’t represent his thinking now, according to his “representative.”

Republicans should have a field day rerunning those videos to the extent they can, as they will be rehashing the rather recent policies of Francesca Hong, running neck-and-neck with David Crowley in Wisconsin as I type this: “abolish the police,” “abolish ICE,” “abolish prisons,” and “Cancel Thanksgiving.”

El-Sayed and Hong together could put an end to the Fourth and Thanksgiving, but don’t worry. There’s still December 26. (Mao’s birthday).

They could have even more fun with Darializa Avila Chevalier, who somehow grabbed the Dem nomination in a Harlem/Bronx district and is likely to win in November. Ms. Chevalier is well to the left of Trotsky, disparages interracial relationships, and called Biden a rapist.

So the GOP has plenty of targets.

If they do a decent job of making clear who their adversaries are, how these bizarre, loony people are taking over the Democratic Party, they stand an excellent chance of keeping or extending their hold over the House and Senate. They have been given a gift.

How they will use it is another matter.

UPDATE: While most of us relatively sane people who put politics in its proper place, at least those on the East Coast, slept, David Crowley hung out Hong (okay, bad joke) by a small margin, although Wisconsin’s low-rent version of Jiang Qing (Mao’s wife) was ahead in the polls, in some cases substantially.

What this tells us:

Not a whole lot we didn’t already know. The polls stink, or are erratic at best. Why would virtually all campaigns that can afford it pay for their own if they trusted them? Also, it tells us that enough (barely) of registered Democrats want to win in November, because Hong was a pretty sure loser.

One more thing before Hong fades into a deserved oblivion. She is a perfected product of our wretched higher- educational system where leftist faculty on cushy salaries preach a socialism that never worked (except for them).

A perfect example was the “deconstruction” that took over English departments in recent years. What it came down to was the brilliant observation that authors often didn’t understand the import of their writing, something that was hardly news to Aristophanes. For that tidbit, parents were paying upwards of $80K per annum while less well-off students went into hock for who-knows-what. Shake that up and you have an “affordability crisis.” Cui bono?
