At the Amela Frequency 📡, every Monday, we reflect on tech news, share thoughts from our network ✍️, and hand you tools and frameworks for early-stage builders ⚒️. If you’re building (or dreaming about it), you’re in the right place.
Hi Amelxs👋
Last week, a founder asked me the question I hear more than almost any other:
“Where do I even find investors?”
I get why she asked it that way.
Fundraising can feel like the answer should be a list. A directory. One of the many spreadsheets people promote on LinkedIn. Some hidden database everyone else seems to have access to and you somehow don’t.
But one thing very few people realize is that closing investors is not just about finding a database full of names.
It is also about understanding how to appeal to them. Because before you find the right people, you need to understand how they decide.
What are they actually looking for?
What makes someone give money to a stranger for an idea that does not fully exist yet?
Why are the loudest self-proclaimed angels often the smallest checks?
Why do the real ones often stay quiet because they do not need to advertise?
And why is trust built weeks, sometimes months, before the pitch, not during it?
I’ve been thinking a lot about this, and about Amela’s role in this ecosystem. I don’t want us to be the place that only gives people fish. I want us to be the place that teaches people how to fish.
How to look investable.
How to understand what investors care about.
How to build the right relationships around themselves.
How to stop treating fundraising as a mysterious game of luck and start treating it as a system they can learn.
Nobody really teaches this part.
Everyone teaches deck structure. Everyone promises a “quick path” to success. Everyone talks about access. But access only matters if you know what to do with it.
That’s what I built the Fundraising Bootcamp around. Not a list of names.
But how investors think, so you know who to approach, how to approach them, and how to build a repeatable system that gets you closer to a yes.
And with that in mind, let’s go on to this week’s newsletter.
One more note before we do.
After this edition, we’re going to take a little summer break from the newsletter.
This has been one of the most consistent things we’ve built at Amela. We’ve been showing up in your inbox for almost three years, sharing founder stories, opportunities, reflections, events, and resources for this community.
And for that reason, I also want to treat it with care.
Right now, we’re taking some time to focus on the different things we’re building behind the scenes, the programs we’re running, and the events we have coming up.
In the meantime, we’re not going anywhere.
You can still find all of our upcoming events on Luma, follow Amela on LinkedIn and Instagram, and stay connected with me through my personal LinkedIn.
We’ll be back with the newsletter after the summer.
Thank you for reading, replying, forwarding, showing up, and being part of this little corner of the internet with us.
hugs,

Participants raised $8M+ in the last 12 months. Early bird seats are limited!
⚡🧠 Zero to Builder: Cohort 6
Most people with a startup idea don’t have a building problem: they have a clarity and momentum problem. Zero to Builder is a 4-week cohort that takes you from stalled idea to validated concept and working prototype, using AI tools. No code required, 1:1 support included.
