This week I found myself thinking about something that doesn’t get talked about enough:
Focus.
Not in the “productivity hack” way. But in the very real sense of what it takes to not get pulled apart. I even spoke about it in a LinkedIn reflection last week.
Because if I’m honest, a big part of building anything isn’t just deciding what to do.
It’s dealing with everything that’s competing for your attention at the same time: tools, advice, opportunities, content, people telling you “this is the way”, and most of it sounds… reasonable.
Which makes it harder.
Because the risk isn’t always doing the wrong thing, but trying to do too many right things at once.
And slowly losing clarity.
I see this a lot with founders, and yes, that includes myself.
Not because they lack intelligence or drive.
But because they’re navigating a landscape where it’s genuinely hard to know:
What to trust
What to ignore
What actually matters right now
And that creates a kind of quiet overwhelm.
You’re moving… but not necessarily moving forward.
Which is why I’ve been thinking more about this idea:
Focus isn’t just discipline.
Sometimes, it’s about reducing the number of decisions you need to make.
Finding places, people, or systems you trust…
So you don’t have to re-evaluate everything from scratch every time.
In many ways, that’s also what we’ve been trying to build at Amela.
Not just a community, but an ecosystem that gains trust and supports their members cutting through the noise.
For example, today we’re hosting a session for members only, called “The Charm Stack: Show us the tools behind your business.”
And the intention is very simple:
No sponsorships.
No hidden incentives.
Just founders sharing what they actually use, and trust.
Because one of the biggest hidden costs of building isn’t just money.
It’s time spent figuring out what’s worth your attention.
Because at the end of the day, building something meaningful doesn’t just require ambition. It requires protecting your ability to think clearly.
And that often means being intentional about what, and who, you let influence your decisions.
So I’ll leave you with this:
Where in your life are you making things harder than they need to be… because you’re trying to figure everything out alone?
