Hello again from London. This week has been a lot, in all types of ways, and it left me thinking about the role of partnership.
When people think about partnership in the startup world, they usually think about one thing:
“I need a co-founder.”
But that framing is very narrow.
Because in reality, you’re never building alone, even if you’re a solo founder.
What you’re actually building is a system of people that shapes how you think, decide, and grow.
And that system matters more than any single role.
Not just in theory, but in practice.
We’ve partnered with people across courses, events, and collaborations. People like Tony for our most recent course, ecosystem partners like Dalia who we did an amazing event with on Friday, and many others along the way. And consistently, the difference hasn’t just been what they bring…
It’s how they show up:
people who genuinely want you to win
people who challenge your thinking
people who push you, and also want you to take care of yourself
That combination is rare. And it compounds.
This connects to something I wrote a while ago about building your own “positive echo chamber.”
Not an environment where everyone agrees with you, …but one where:
you feel supported
your thinking expands
and you’re exposed to better ways of seeing things
As I go through life meeting more and more incredible women and founders, I’ve started to notice a pattern.
A lot of people hyper-focus on finding the right co-founder.
The right person.
But I think we need to zoom out.
Because what actually shapes your journey isn’t just one person —
it’s the system of people you build around you.
The conversations you have.
The way people challenge you, support you, and expand your thinking.
So with this reflection, I’ll leave you with this:
Be intentional about who you build with.
Be intentional about who you let in.
Because that system — more than any single decision —
will shape where you end up.
