On June 6th, right after the Filmstack X Tribeca Meet-Up, Seed&Spark will host their annual happy hour from 4-8pm at Gigantic Studios with support from Kinema for Filmmakers, Transgender Film Center, BRIC Arts, and Dollycard. What a Saturday it will be! RSVP here.
Also on June 6, They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? is playing at the Paris. Not to compete with the two great events mentioned above, but have you seen this movie??? It is an all-timer which has only become more prescient with age. It also got tangled up in complicated licensing issues and is very hard to find. Seeing it on the big screen is a rare and special experience. If I’m not at my own event, it’s cos I left early to see this. The Paris is killing it currently.
Award-winning film Honeyjoon by director Lilian T. Mehrel opens in NYC June 10 at IFC. Q&As June 10 & 11. Trailer here. I saw it at AIFVF after Lost Cause and it is fantastic — funny, sexy, intelligent and emotionally resonant. All to say, don't miss it! Distributed by Utopia's Circle Collective (shout-out to stupid co). Learn more on their substack (!!!) and get notified when tickets go live.
NYC’s newest micro-cinema kicks off on June 11, created and curated by Filmstack’s own Alan McIntyre and WTF-Stop Camera Club. It’s in a garden on the Lower East Side! NYC-specific shorts screening in harmony with the sounds of the city. Love it! AMAUTEUR co-hosting. RSVP here.
