The Story Isn't Finished. Neither Am I

I’ve been sitting with something for weeks now, and decided it's time to put it out there.

I want to share the full drafts of The Raven Dreams Trilogy with you, before they’re perfect. Before I’ve smoothed every rough line and cut every scene that won’t survive the next revision.

Part of me resists this. The part that was taught somewhere along the way that you only show people the finished, perfected thing. That you wait until it’s polished, until it’s right, until there’s nothing left for anyone to judge.

But guess what? People will judge anyway. That’s the beast of creativity. Can we pour our hearts into our creations and withstand any criticism that may come our way?

I say, yes, we can.

What I’ve learned on my own path, over and over, in ways I didn’t ask for, is that we are always becoming. Never fully arrived, because there’s always the next thing. Never finished, because there’s always a layer deeper. I believe there’s something sacred in letting people witness that, instead of only ever handing them the end result.

So I’m doing this.

Starting today, paid subscribers get the full draft of The Raven Dreams: Book One. The Raven Wars: Book Two and The Raven and The Oracle: Book Three will follow as I finish rewriting the drafts from the versions I wrote all those years ago.

The first seven chapters of each book in The Raven Dreams Trilogy are still free for everyone. Book Two chapters are being released at the time of this post. If you want the whole story, the full draft of Book One now, and Book Two and Three as they’re finished, the choice is yours.

These aren’t the polished versions. There will likely be typos and lines that still read awkwardly. These aren’t the versions that will exist when this trilogy is printed and sitting in your hands. They are the versions that are still becoming, same as I am. Same as we all are.

Somewhere ahead, the finished version of this trilogy exists. I have some ideas for what that could look like when it’s ready, and I can’t wait to share them with you.
