Your book was delivered a couple of hours ago. I want you to know how valuable these books are. I’m sure you get it from where you are, but I’m reflecting it back to you from the cheap seats - these are fantastic.
Comparison is the thief of joy--my intention here is not to compare teachers, but to offer context for why I feel strongly about this...
There’s a well-known author in the field whose books have offered much valuable learning, typically requiring rereading each chapter at least once. Nothing wrong with that per se, though it does decrease the likelihood that I’ll finish the book.
Aly, your ability to communicate complexities on paper is on point. I’ve learned so much from the first 25 pages alone, and I feel I can repeat the information back with understanding. You make statements, almost in passing, that hit like hammers and cause one to pause and process. You wrote a sentence about the detrimental consequences of invalidating juvenile gifts, and I ended up having a lovely monologue at my dog about it, which helped reveal ways this impacted me. It’s like, Aly writes a sentence worth a thousand pounds, then packages it in an inconspicuous little box, which carves open an opportunity for personal processing and growth.
This, what you’ve been creating and pouring yourself into...it’s vital and life changing. Honestly, thank you.
Also, a little late, but Happy Pride!!
