Shop 'Til You Drop Without Buying Anything
Picture it: a fake shopping site where you can browse, fill your cart, track a “delivery”... but nothing ever ships. Earlier this month, reports came out about a new category of shopping website invented in South Korea. The term for this new category is "dopamine websites" and they’re described as offering everything you could ever want—including fake food menus and fake tracking numbers—providing a dopamine hit without actually making any purchases.
It turns out that for some people (maybe many people), the urge to shop isn't really about the products:
