It’s been a HUGE month at All The Best with lots of pitch-y things happening. Our final paid pitch round for the year is now open (until July 6), and you can catch the replay of our pitching Q&A with BBC4 Short Cuts. Read on for those and more pitching opportunities, plus a new Australian audio industry awards night.
Behind the scenes, our JCAF fellows have begun delivering their audio drafts and we’ve wrapped a six-week All The Best induction program for emerging makers exploring storytelling from ideation to pitching - thanks to everyone that joined! If, like them, you’re keen to get involved with All The Best come along to our next Audio Club meet ups happening online and in-person this month (see below for and sign-up info).

#696 - Crip Love: We sit with All The Best alumni Danni Stewart to talk about their new podcast, Crip Love, focused on the intersection of disability and love. It’s a heartfelt project which challenges stereotypes and offers a few love lessons along the way.

Whether you’re a total beginner or an experienced audio storyteller, Audio Club welcomes anyone to chat about audio story ideas, get feedback on their work, and to meet other like-minded people. We are back with two free events this month, check out the links below for more info and to register:

We are currently seeking new stories from you! Send us your pitches for short audio features, documentaries, journalism, fiction and radio art 8 - 12 minutes in length. We’re open to pitches on any subject, but here are some prompts to aid your ideation: RUNAWAY, MECHANICAL, PRAYER & EDGE. If selected, you'll be paired with a Supervising Producer, and supported through the pitch, production and broadcast phases and receive a $200AUD honorarium.
Are you an emerging content maker with lived experience of disability? The ABC is seeking non-fiction, original story ideas that fit either audio, video, digital or social formats. If successful, you’ll work with an ABC producer for a period between August 2026 and May 2027 to produce the story. Pitch deadline is Wed July 8.
Submissions for the SONARR (short for Sound and Narrative) Awards are now open and close July 31st. There are thirty-four category awards across five pillars - Sound, Narrative, Voice, Vision, and Impact - including a Student Creator prize. They’re also looking for volunteers - EOI form here.
Do you speak Italian? Then check out Giardinetti, a new home for short audio creations in Italian. They’re currently accepting stories on the topic of ‘things that are done in bathrooms’. Submissions close on Wednesday, July 15th. Andiamo!
