Happy February!!

I hope everyone is having a glorious Black history month and is reading diversely—which you should be doing all year long, by the way! There are so many amazing Black authors out there to discover and people are missing out when they skip over them, so I implore you to look at your shelves and figure out if you are choosing to actively read outside of your norm—follow Black creators and black authors will help a lot. Your algo is what you make it!

I just got back from Love Yall Bookfest and if you’ve been following me on socials, then you know my mom went with me and she had a blast. This was her first con/festival, and she had no idea what to expect but she for sure wants to come to another one and explore.

Fun fact: I spent part of the night in our hotel room explaining ‘tropes’ to her because she heard the word in one of my panels and had no idea what it meant.

A Lesson in Deceit Feature

Did you know that A Lesson in Deceit was in yet another NY Times article! A friend messaged me this past weekend to tell me because I never know anything that goes on! You all have shown this book so much love and I am so grateful to you!

THE NEW ROMANTICS

I will be at The New Romantics bookstore in Orlando on February 22nd from 12-2pm! I will have all my books there, so please stop by and say hi!

What am I working on now?

I am a little over 70k in my WIP and I’m loving it! It still has that Allie Shante banter and charm, but it is different from what I’ve done before. I also don’t know if this is where my writing will start to venture off to (and I know that doesn’t make sense to you guys because you have no idea what it is!) I still have my dark romantasy in the back of my mind, so don’t worry. That is just a hot mess in my chaotic brain, and I can’t even attempt to multitask at the moment.

I still plan to create a paid tier here on Substack to start showcasing Elise or Reese’s story here just for subscribers. Exclusive art, chapters, etc. All the things! Let me get my bearings together and that will get settled, I promise.

Have you met Evelyn Leigh yet? Well, you should! She’s an amazing, talented, and funny as hell author! Her debut novel, Elevator Pitch stole my heart, but she has a new story in an anthology that is out now!
