We live in a culture obsessed with size

Eric Miller · Allied We Can

The size of your bank account, the paycheck you bring home, the house you own, the title on your office door. From childhood, we’re told that bigger means better. That success is measured by accumulation, not contribution.

But here’s the problem: when size becomes the scorecard, enough never feels like enough. You can double your income and still feel broke inside. You can achieve every career milestone and still feel like you’re falling behind. Because when success is defined by comparison, someone will always have more.

This belief system doesn’t just warp ambition, it warps identity. It turns men into performers, constantly chasing external validation, terrified of slowing down or appearing “small.” And in that chase, integrity and joy often get lost.

Real success isn’t about size. It’s about substance. It’s the quiet confidence that comes from knowing who you are and not how much you own. It’s contribution over competition, depth over display.

In Episode 16, I unpack why the “size matters” mindset keeps men stuck and how to redefine success on your own terms.
