Is Your Book Ready for Publishing?

You’ve done it, you finished your book, and it’s time to celebrate! After you relax, you think about the last step, publishing. But is your book even ready for the editor? Here we have a checklist to help start on the personal edits to make sure your book is the best it can be for your readers.

☐ Spell checked

☐ Removed redundant or crutch words such as that, words that end in –ly, just, very, etc.

*crutch words are words you use too often. The best way to catch them is to read your story out loud or ask beta or critique if they can spot them*

☐ Critique Partner reviewed and edits made

☐ Beta or Alpha reader feedback and edits made

☐ Cover design complete

☐ Blurb – short and long

☐ Sent to the editor and make corrections

*You do not need all of these but a COPY EDIT & FORMATTING is the bare minimum you should consider*

• Line editing – developmental

• Copy editing

• Proofreading

• Formatted
