Have you ever walked into a crowded room and been overwhelmed by the stimulus of it all? There are multiple conversations going on, different volumes, and probably music playing in the background. Often, the music is just a bit too loud.
That’s what my brain felt like this morning—a crowded room. Too many thoughts going on at once, and I couldn’t seem to settle on a single one. Much like walking into that crowded room, I felt a bit overwhelmed; then I didn’t know where to start.
After getting my first cup of coffee, I sat down and started with just journaling. My journaling sessions, especially the morning ones, are really just free-writing sessions. A way to get it all out and captured. This one simple step usually helps me focus on what’s next.
Then, I moved on to more focused journaling by jumping to my prayer journal. I capture my prayers whenever I can. It’s not always appropriate to do this, but when I can, I do. It helps me focus my prayers much more effectively. It also gives me a record of what I prayed for.
After two cups of coffee, I am here, writing this post. I’m an hour into my day already… boy, does time fly. I was going to try and come up with something important to say to you today, but the moral of the story is this: there isn’t always something important to say.
As a writer, I have learned that not every piece I write is good. Sometimes they end up messy and hard to follow; sometimes they might be boring. But every once in a while, something good comes out of my brain.
Writing is much like life: sometimes messy, sometimes boring, and sometimes good. My goal here is to share my life with you through the written word, so my writing will reflect my life.
Today, you get a rambling madman. Welcome to the my sanitarium.
