Most people spend hoooours obsessing over their LinkedIn posts.

Then send hundreds of profile visitors to a profile that converts absolutely nobody. 💀That’s a bit like paying for an advertisement that directs people to an abandoned shop.

Because long before someone speaks to you, buys from you, hires you, refers you, or invites you onto a podcast...

They look you up!!

Maybe someone mentioned your name in a meeting. Maybe a recruiter found you in a search. Maybe one of your posts went viral. Maybe someone Googled your name (your LinkedIn profile is most likely one of the first results).

Either way, they click. And within seconds, they decide your credibility and whether you’re worth contacting or buying from.

Over the years, I’ve noticed LinkedIn users usually fall into one of three buckets:

  1. The Lead Generator: Uses LinkedIn to attract customers and generate inbound business.

  2. The Career Climber: Uses LinkedIn to accelerate promotions, salary increases, and career opportunities.

  3. The Transitional Founder: Uses LinkedIn to build a business while still employed and trying not to give their boss a heart attack.

No matter which category you fall into, a strong LinkedIn profile accelerates EVERYTHING.

Every section should answer the next question forming in your visitor’s mind and reduce their uncertainty, moving them one step closer to taking action.

By the time someone messages you, they should already feel like they know who you are.

LinkedIn’s Engineering Team has publicly confirmed that profile signals help the platform understand who you are, what you’re knowledgeable about, and who might find your content relevant.

LinkedIn sees itself as a global professional news broadcaster.

Its goal is to help professionals share ideas, opinions, expertise, and industry knowledge. But before it can recommend your content to the right audience, it needs to understand what you’re actually qualified to talk about.

If your profile says you’re a web designer, but all your content is about stock market investing, that’s confusing.

And confused algorithms don’t tend to hand out impressions.

On the other hand, if your profile clearly aligns with the topics you regularly discuss, LinkedIn has a much easier time understanding who should see your content.

For example, I’ve spent 15+ years in sales, worked at LinkedIn, and now run a LinkedIn-focused business.

When I write about LinkedIn, sales, personal branding, or social selling, the platform has plenty of signals to understand why I’m talking about those subjects.

The clearer your positioning, the easier it becomes for us hoomans AND the algorithm to understand what you are all about.

Get ready! Because in the following I’m giving you the MOST detailed breakdown of:

  • Step 1 - Your Mission

  • Step 2 - Verification

  • Step 3 - Decide What You Want People To Do

  • Step 4 - Banner

  • Step 5 - Profile Picture

  • Step 6 - Headline

  • Step 7 - Follow vs. Connect

  • Step 8 - About Section

  • Step 9 - Featured Section

  • Step 10 - Experience Section

  • Step 11 - Recommendation

  • Step 12 - Education / Charity / Interests / Certifications

Now let’s get started and give that profile of yours a nice, fresh look!

The next section is for paying subscribers only. 💔

I’ll still like you either way.
