One of the most common mistakes in street photography is chasing subjects.
You see someone interesting, you react, you follow, you shoot.
The result is often a photograph that feels rushed.
A stronger approach is to find a scene first and let life enter it.
The photograph above is a good example. The image is not built around a single person. It begins with the geometry of the location: the dark storefront, the horizontal lines of the shutters, the patchy sunlight, and the open space of the sidewalk. The scene already exists before any of the people arrive.
Then comes the waiting.
