Welcome to the latest edition of my monthly Field Notes. This is where I share new openings and happenings on the French Riviera, what I’ve been reading, watching, and eating, and what’s coming up next for me!
I’m coming to you from Istanbul this month, where I’m spending most of the summer. The timing couldn’t be better, because lately France has really been testing my patience.
So far my days in Istanbul have been filled with admin tasks, coffee, and making friends with street cats. Istanbul is one of those cities that you can visit time and time again and still discover something new. I’ve been coming here for 15 years and each time the city feels familiar, yet a bit different.
Even though I’m not in Nice, I still have my eye on some exciting openings and events, and I’ve had some great meals lately that I’m excited to share with you.
News, Openings, and Events on the French Riviera
Tour de France Women’s Final, Nice, France: On August 8th and 9th, Nice is hosting the final of the women’s Tour de France. A free fan zone in Jardin Albert 1er from 11 a.m.–8 p.m. on August 9, with a large-screen broadcast, cycling demonstrations, activities, food, and DJ sets.
