A photo exhibition has opened in Pogradec featuring rare materials from the “Diary of the Greco-Italian War 1940-1941” by Arvanite author Christos Petrou Mesogeitis. The exhibition showcases historical images and notes documenting Greek army operations in southern Albania during the war with Italy, as well as scenes of daily life of local residents in areas where Mesogeitis passed and stayed, particularly around Pogradec and Maliq. Albania has received 280,000 doses of the seasonal flu vaccine, which are being offered free of charge to at-risk groups. The Albanian government has announced a new plan focusing on families, housing, and social policies. By 2029, the government aims to build around 1,500 low-cost housing units and convert former dormitories and state-owned properties into social housing. Additionally, revenue from confiscated assets will be used to finance housing programs. The plan includes subsidies and soft loans for young families to purchase homes, increased support for people with disabilities, and programs to employ women and vulnerable communities. The government also plans to create 20 social enterprises in rural areas and add 40 new community services in cooperation with municipalities. Furthermore, there are initiatives to expand long-term care, in-home assistance, and psychosocial support for the elderly. A digital system is also expected to be implemented to manage social services effectively and transparently.
