I enjoy these quiet weeks, especially since they coincide with increased work from my design agency, giving me plenty to catch up on. The week began in Belgravia, where they switched on the Christmas lights. The cold weather on the first day contributed to a festive atmosphere. I only attended events on three days this week, with the standout being the Wes Anderson exhibition at the Design Museum. It featured an impressive collection of works that evoked nostalgic memories.
First up was the Belgravia Christmas lights switch-on. This is a small event, but in previous years I have always got good photos. The lights were switched on by broadcaster and author Gyles Brandreth. Festive events took place on Elizabeth Street, featuring the London Gay Men’s Chorus, the Fulham Brass Band and steel band Solid Steel on stage. Events also took place at the Christmas Market in Eccleston Yards. I spent about five hours here and took plenty of photos.
My next event wasn't until Wednesday at the Design Museum, which was the highlight of my week. The museum hosted a major Wes Anderson retrospective from November 21st to July 26th, 2026. It featured over two dozen beautifully crafted items from his films that visitors could explore.
The exhibition highlights his unique cinematic work, created in partnership with la Cinémathèque française. Visitors will have access to Wes Anderson’s personal archives, amassed over the course of 30 years by the filmmaker. This marks the first time many of these items will be exhibited in Britain.
Definitely worth visiting, especially if you're a film enthusiast. Even for fashion lovers, the clothing design in his movies has a unique style and aesthetic that clearly characterises a Wes Anderson film.
Christmas Lights were switched on in Fleet Street by Alexander Armstrong, Snoopy and Lady Lucy French on 19th November. It marks the start of the Festive Fleet Street Quarter 2025 programme, which includes a Snoopy sculpture trail. Featuring 12 artist-designed Snoopy sculptures displayed across the Quarter, this runs until 16th January 2026.
The November Colour Walk happens at Spitalfields Market on the third Thursday of each month. Participants wear colourful clothes to brighten their day and uplift everyone’s mood.
