Alain Thys · The Transformation Code

Recently, a number of large scale AI projects have provided me with a great opportunity to apply The Transformation Code to the world of Artificial Intelligence.

And I was delighted to see that the principles of Story, Resonance and Flow still hold up as we reimagine the way we work, buy, and consume information.

So much, that I decided to turn the Code into a Human-AI Fitness Scan. Sixteen questions that look beyond the data stacks and models at the strategic, human and organisational questions that make or break an AI transformation.

Because in contrast to the top-down compliance approach that worked when leaders told their teams to act as organic interfaces for the CRM or ERP system, AI requires human ingenuity to really deliver value beyond the odd efficiencies.

  • It needs a Story, that describes who the business will become when it’s AI powered, and how that will affect the relationship with its customers, teams, funders and ecosystem partners.

  • This Story needs Resonance with the people using the AIs, so they continue to feel ownership about the outcomes and push the boundaries of what technology can do on its own.

  • And yes, there needs to be Flow so the AI choice is the natural one. Because it is clear, easy and rewarding for everyone the business touches.

Get them all right, and they multiply their impact. Miss one, and any transformation falls apart. No matter how good the technology you unleash on the business.

While Codes in books can be intellectually stimulating, conversations make things move. This scan is supposed to make them happen.

It’s a first prototype, so it will evolve.

But it already lets you apply The Transformation Code to your AI plans and evaluate how you’re doing on making the Human-AI collaboration in your business a success.

You can also use it as a conversation piece with your colleagues, compare your assessment to theirs, or use the questions as a lens to formulate the actions needed for change to happen.

Like everything in the Code, it’s not designed to give you the illusion of cookie-cutter answers. It’s designed to make you think.

As a subscriber, you get first access.

The scan takes about five minutes. It’s free. And it asks questions that are genuinely worth thinking about, regardless how you score.

If you complete the scan, please share what you think. What was good, bad, and ugly? What made you think? What was unnecessary? What is missing?

My goal is to build something useful, so any feedback will shape the next version.

And if you want to talk about what it means for the AI transformation of your business, get in touch.

That’s what I’m here for.

The Human–AI Fitness Scan is built on the logic of The Transformation Code. If you haven’t read it yet — it’s here.
