Rocky View Schools students can get ready for their first bus trip with My First Ride event
Rocky View Schools’ (RVS) students taking the school bus for the first time this upcoming school year will have an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the bus ahead of time at RVS’ My First Ride event.
RVS is hosting the event at the RVS Education Centre, 2651 Chinook Winds Drive SW in Airdrie, on August 24 and 25 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

“Students riding the bus for the first time may be understandably nervous and won’t know what to expect, especially if they are also attending school for the first time,” said Senior Manager of Transportation for Rocky View Schools, Morley Kostecky. “By offering My First Ride, we hope to give new bus riders and their families a safe environment to get used to the school bus and ask their questions so they are ready and excited to be transported on the first day of school.”
The event will include a presentation by an RVS bus contractor who will cover safety on the bus and at bus stops, an opportunity for questions, and a short bus ride afterwards.
Registration is not required for My First Ride but the presentation will begin promptly at 6 p.m.
RVS also has video shorts on bus safety and bus expectations. As well as more information on busing on their website.
