Midjourney Is Leaving AI Images Behind And Building A Full-Body Health Scanner
Midjourney became famous for one thing:
Creating stunning AI-generated images from simple text prompts.
Now the company wants to tackle something completely different.
Healthcare.
Midjourney has announced Midjourney Medical, a new division focused on AI-powered medical imaging. The company is developing a new system called “Ultrasonic CT,” which combines ultrasound technology with AI reconstruction to create detailed 3D scans of the human body.
The goal?
Make full-body imaging faster, cheaper, and more accessible.
A full-body scan in about 60 seconds
According to Midjourney, its future scanner could create detailed body images in roughly one minute.
The system would place users inside a water-filled chamber while they pass through a ring containing hundreds of thousands of ultrasonic transmitters and receivers.
The hardware collects massive amounts of data, which is then processed by AI systems to reconstruct a 3D view of the body.
Midjourney believes this approach could eventually create MRI-like images without radiation or powerful magnetic fields.
Traditional full-body MRI scans can take 30 minutes or more.
Midjourney wants millions of scans every month
The company’s vision is extremely ambitious.
Midjourney says it wants to deploy around 50,000 scanners globally within six years and eventually process one billion full-body scans every month.
The idea is based on early detection.
If people regularly scan their bodies, potential health problems could be discovered earlier.
Midjourney believes this could reduce preventable deaths and lower healthcare costs.
From AI art to healthcare hardware
This is a huge shift for the company.
Midjourney launched in 2022 as a text-to-image AI platform and became one of the most recognizable names in generative AI.
Now it is moving into physical hardware, medical research, and wellness.
The company plans to begin with body composition mapping while continuing research and working toward regulatory approval for diagnostic use.
The first step: Midjourney Spa
The company plans to introduce the technology through a wellness-focused location.
The first Midjourney Spa is expected to open in San Francisco in 2027.
The facility would include traditional wellness experiences like:

• Cold plunges
• AI-powered scanning rooms
The goal is to combine health monitoring with lifestyle and wellness.
AI companies are racing into healthcare
Midjourney is not alone.

ChatGPT Dominates AI While Search Habits Start to Shift

The company claims this was an attempt at model distillation, where a rival AI can learn a model’s capabilities by repeatedly questioning it instead of accessing its code or training data. Alibaba has not responded publicly, and the claims have not been independently verified.
The allegations highlight a new AI arms race problem: protecting models from being copied through conversation. As companies spend billions developing advanced systems, they now face the risk that competitors can replicate years of research by simply asking the right questions at massive scale. The future AI battle may not only be about building smarter models, but also protecting them from being reverse-engineered.
