🕵️♂️ GenAI Community - Autonomous Agent Edition
On 25 March, the AI Austria community came together in Vienna for a GenAI Community session focused entirely on agents. Speakers included Felix Krause sharing lessons from global AI hackathons, Andrew Demczuk on his Minecraft AI Agent Board, Ivan Birkmaier from IBM and Daniel Noszian with insights on agentic developments across the Austrian AI ecosystem.
Hosted by Ruben Hetfleisch at Fiskaly, the evening combined short impulse talks with open discussion and networking - bringing together builders, researchers, and practitioners working on the next generation of AI systems.
👨💻 Over 800+ Participants: Secure Personal Agents Hackathon - Vienna On-Site Event (11 April)
AI Austria hosted the Vienna on-site event for the Secure Personal Agents Hackathon on 11 April. Over 500 participants worldwide have already registered to build and benchmark personal autonomous AI agents on the BitGN platform. It was the first time a non-developer won one of our hackathons - with creating the best Agent-System.
Congratulations to Bernhard Götzendörfer for winning the viennese On-Site Event with 79 out of 104 points (2nd place came in at 63).
The event is organized in partnership with BitGN (Rinat Abdullin), AIM - AI Impact Mission, AI Factory (Location) and supported by TIMETOACT GROUP Österreich, Speedinvest and Klartext AI.
🎬 AI Salon - “The Last CEO”
What if AI doesn’t automate the factory floor first — but the corner office? The third AI Salon brought this provocative question to Funkhaus Wien, Vienna’s legendary former radio broadcasting house, on 27 March.
The evening featured a keynote conversation between Betina Kitzler and Andreas Fraunberger, an artistic intervention by Sarah Rechberger, and a think tank session where participants designed the org chart of 2030. Brought to you by Funkhaus Wien and chim.ai, sponsored by UBIT Wirtschaftskammer Wien.

🏛️ “Public AI” launched: Austria bundles federal AI initiatives under one umbrella
At the first KI-Konklave at the Haus der Digitalisierung in Tulln, Digitalisierungsstaatssekretär Alexander Pröll unveiled “Public AI” - a shared brand uniting all federal AI efforts across ministries. Five concrete use cases were presented: GovGPT (a sovereign generative AI tool for all 180,000 federal employees, launching mid-2026), AI-enhanced ELAK (intelligent summarization of official files), KAPA (AI support for parliamentary inquiries), KI-SUN (an already-live knowledge assistant trained on 6,000+ pages of government training materials), and agentic AI for automated citizen services. The technical backbone is a shared, sovereign AI infrastructure at the Bundesrechenzentrum. With 44% of public servants retiring in the next 13 years, the initiative aims to safeguard institutional knowledge and maintain service quality. » more
