We’re already half way through July, and it’s just now that I’m sending you my newsletter! I guess I’m running in summer time, taking it slow. Here’s a little comic about what I was doing last month:
A children’s book I’ve illustrated came out! It’s called Superaltis Alarik, written by Siri Kolu, published in Finnish by Tammi. I was so happy to receive my copies! I posted some pictures from it in my instagram:
I visited a library in Kaunas, Lithuania in April and finally finished a little comic about it. You can read the whole thing in my Find me at the library Substack.
You know Shrek-movies are based on a children’s book? And what a book! Written and illustrated by William Steig and published in 1990, it’s amazingly weird and funny.
And the illustrations! I love them so, so much. There’s so much anarchy and joy oozing out of them.
Steig was 83 years old when he made Shrek! It shows you’re never too old to create something new and wonderful. He did see the first film adaption that was released in 2001. He’s quoted saying: “It’s vulgar, it’s disgusting—and I love it!”
